Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalent for licensing is required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • A Registered Nurse license appropriate to the state of work location is required.
  • Advanced Life Support certification or one of the accepted alternatives—Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program Essentials—is required.
  • The role requires constant standing and walking, frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0–25 pounds, and occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 25–50 pounds.
  • The role requires occasional lifting or moving of patients and the ability to perform the stated bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, repetitive movement, driving, crawling, and running activities.
  • No prior experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain comprehensive data from the patient, family, and other healthcare providers to develop a holistic picture of the patient’s needs or condition.
  • Analyze and synthesize assessment data to determine diagnoses or conditions relevant to care.
  • Identify optimal patient outcomes in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Develop plans prescribing strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes using clinical judgment in collaboration with the patient, family, and interprofessional care team.
  • Implement plans using strategies that promote and maintain a safe environment, coordinating implementation with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Evaluate processes and progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, evaluate personal practice, and maintain current knowledge and competence.
  • Communicate effectively in all areas of practice and collaborate with the patient, family, and interprofessional team.
  • Use clinical inquiry and integrate the best available evidence into practice.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in healthcare to critical care nursing practice, ensuring care is based on patients’ age-specific and clinical needs.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
