Requirements
  • University degree in mathematics, finance, actuarial science and/or 2+ years of group underwriting experience.
  • Completed or actively pursuing Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) an asset.
  • Superior knowledge of Excel (Advanced+), including but not limited to statistical modeling, forecasting and prediction, pivot tables, VBA and macros, filters, and familiar with advanced excel formulas to create comprehensive and complex data sheets.
  • Advanced virtual skills and experience with Word, PowerPoint, Access, Zoom, Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to learn new systems and technologies of external partners.
  • A positive attitude with an exceptional ability to work under pressure, with a strong capability to balance multiple tasks with delicate timelines.
  • Well-developed analytical skills, integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive client and data information that require assessment and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities, highly proficient in written and verbal communication and excellent organization skills.
  • Negotiation skills an asset.
  • Aptitude for the building of professional and solid relationships with internal team and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to ever-changing and fast-paced environments and work independently on tasks.
Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze and/or validate data received from internal teams, market partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Develop a tracking system of periodic raw data reports pertinent to the ongoing operations and ad-hoc client requests from internal teams.
  • Receive and filter raw data from market partners and formulate the data in accordance with data outcome.
  • Create reports and presentations in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Produce presentation based on your own independent analysis, related benefit component coverage, and tie into market trends.
  • Review related insurance plan to raw data to determine cross coverage patterns, anomalies, and trends for predictive modeling and to identify student-related areas that require plan action and/or change.
  • Research relevant industry trends and demonstrate to Director of Operations the validity of specific application and implementation of database management tools to streamline reporting.
  • Build healthy relationships with external insurer and provider partners and act as the main point of contact for regular and ad-hoc data collection and management.
  • Partner with the relevant internal departments to clarify data and/or client requirements to ensure presentation output accurately reflects the data information, meets internal high service standards, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with Communications Team to enhance or edit customized report templates, as well as finished client products.
  • Set up meetings with external stakeholders and take charge of communication for data and/or system issues, including follow-up written communication with actionable items, independently or in collaboration with Director of Operations and/or internal team members.
  • Liaise with external and other stakeholders frequently in relation to ongoing issues and business performance to promote and support high service standards.
  • Maintain external stakeholder verification process, working with provider to provide validation for data upload, to avoid errors under finance, and act as liaise for third-party claims reimbursement. Provide resolutions to discovered data system issues, when necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  • Thorough understanding of domestic and international student plans, products and services for Canadian Colleges and Universities.
  • Familiar with current ODA fee guide, generic and brand drug patent releases, drug, paramedical and dental associated market trends.
  • Solid understanding of inpatriate benefits and guidelines as it relates to the provincial healthcare for international student brand.
