Job Description

Bose Corporation is a leading innovator in the field of audio and noise control and is successfully extending their market leadership into these areas. Bose seeks new software firmware engineering talent through a 6-month co-op program during the Fall of 2025. Bose hopes to inspire people to consider Bose as a permanent place of employment after they complete university education.

The tool infrastructure engineering team is looking for a software engineering co-op with a strong interest in working on audio architectures and systems. The engineer will be working on aspects of Bose consumer and Automotive sound systems for rapid prototyping purposes. The engineering co-op will be working on an audio tuning tool related software engineering project. You will work together with electrical, software, mechanical and system A/D engineers in a close-knit team. The hardware infrastructure tool team requires a hands-on personality. 

The co-op program will focus on the development equipment that is used to perform acoustic research which are referred to as ‘tools’ in this requisition. You will work on the design of microcontroller firmware targeted for these tools. The software, written in a combination C and Python code targets platforms such as AMD/Xilinx Zynq or KRIA MPSoC ARM processor which are running Yocto (Peta-)Linux and/or smaller Linux platforms like the Raspberry-PI. You will be exposed to architecture development. You may develop network interface support software for Ethernet interface or Analog Devices A2B networks.

We are looking for a creative and inquisitive personality. We prefer a student who does not shy away from learning new skills as part of the work. You should be a student with a good intuition for how things work. It should be accompanied with decent mathematical skills.

Qualifications and Experience:

TIMEFRAME: July 14- December 2025

Your skill set should include:

• Software development in C and preferably Python
• Object-oriented software design and programming skills using C/C++
• Good communication skills.
• Decent mathematical modeling skills and intuition

Nice to have’s:

• Some understanding of and/or experience with embedded processors
• Linux operating systems and/or embedded Linux and kernel driver frameworks
• Source code management (Git and GitHub)
• Can read and understand electronic schematics.
• Some experience with basic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multi-meters, etc.)
• Ability to manage workload across multiple projects with varying priorities.
• Natural interest and experience working on cars and audio systems.

Education Level:

• We prefer applicants that are working on acquiring a master’s degree in computer science or equivalent. Of course, we will consider strong applicants that are working on the bachelor’s degree as well.
