Vanna Health supports people with serious mental illnesses by coordinating care across the health system and partnering with payers, providers, and community-based organizations to improve outcomes and lower costs. Its approach blends technology with hands-on care, employing roles like full stack engineers, care coordinators, and care team leaders to connect patients with services and manage care plans. Unlike peers that focus on a single setting, Vanna Health’s model emphasizes collaboration across stakeholders and long-term patient outcomes, backed by a team drawn from healthcare startups, analytics, and legal fields. The goal is to help individuals with serious mental illnesses live meaningful, healthy lives by reducing barriers to care and delivering sustainable, value-based support.

What believers are saying

  • Vanna closed $17 million on June 22, 2026, extending runway for expansion.
  • The company reported 33% lower total medical and pharmacy costs through reduced utilization.
  • June 2026 CEO Liz Kwo appointment strengthens multi-state scaling and payer-sales execution.

What critics are saying

  • Revenue depends on a few payer partnerships; losing one contract slows expansion immediately.
  • Full-risk SMI care needs flawless utilization management; one bad claims year crushes margins.
  • If national insurers build internal SMI programs, Vanna Health becomes a replaceable vendor.

What makes Vanna Health unique

  • Vanna Health takes full-risk contracts for serious mental illness, not simple care coordination.
  • Its community-based coaching links housing, PCP visits, and adherence support for Medicaid members.
  • Liz Kwo and Giovanni Colella combine payer-scale operations with behavioral-health delivery expertise.
