As our first legal hire, you will be the primary legal advisor to our company, responsible for navigating complex legal issues and ensuring our operations align with all relevant laws and regulations. You will play a crucial role in supporting our company’s growth while mitigating legal risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to the executive team around diverse topics including regulation, privacy, compliance and IP

• Manage all aspects of corporate governance including board matters and investor relations

• Oversee contract management, including negotiation, drafting, and review of all major business agreements

• Provide advice on proactive risk management to ensure we are developing safe and ethical AI systems

• Work with outside counsel, regulators, key stakeholders and immigration team

Qualifications

• Must have:

  • Strong past experience as legal counsel

  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property law, contract law, and corporate governance

  • Proven ability to manage complex negotiations

  • Experience advising on legal issues related to emerging technologies, particularly AI and machine learning

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences

• Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Experience with a senior in-house role within the technology sector

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth technology company or startup environment

  • Familiarity with international law and experience managing global legal issues

  • Background in software licensing, open-source compliance, and technology transactions

  • Past experience in generative AI working with questions like data
