Requirements
  • Graduate of a state-approved and/or accredited School of Nursing.
  • A minimum of 1 year of medical/surgical nursing or nursing in a skilled nursing facility is required.
  • Current license to practice nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee medication management and coordinate the medical needs of residents with physicians, the Director of Nursing/Resident Care, and family members.
  • Observe, document, and report significant changes in residents’ conditions, recommending changes in care needs.
  • Assist in supervising Resident Care Aides to ensure care is provided as instructed.
  • Participate in direct and indirect nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, collaborative planning, and rehabilitation within the scope of education and experience.
  • Assess individuals’ basic health status and record and review related health data.
  • Participate in analyzing and interpreting recorded health data and making informed judgments about required nursing care.
  • Participate in planning and implementing nursing interventions, including appropriate healthcare components in nursing care plans.
  • Incorporate prescribed medical regimens into nursing plans of care.
  • Provide health teaching to individuals and families to maintain an optimal level of healthcare.
  • Evaluate outcomes of basic nursing interventions and initiate or encourage changes in plans of care when appropriate.
  • Provide safe patient care using organizational skills to coordinate quality care for assigned patients and families.
  • Participate in developing culturally competent plans of care that identify patient problems, expected outcomes, and preventative measures.
  • Deliver care specific to the patient’s age.
  • Collaborate, cooperate, and communicate with healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with nurses, physicians, colleagues, patients, and families.
  • Educate patients and families about illness, treatment, and appropriate preventative measures.
  • Support community-based activities within and beyond the Lahey community.
  • Adhere to unit policies, procedures, and practice guidelines specific to the setting.
  • Demonstrate skills as a responsive team member.
  • Fulfill the role of an LPN as a teacher.
  • Fulfill regulatory compliance and readiness responsibilities.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
