Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience as a machine learning engineer.
  • Familiarity with several machine learning techniques, including theoretical machine learning knowledge and experience implementing different types of solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python and a good understanding of the ecosystem of tools and libraries supporting machine learning development, such as scikit-learn and PyTorch.
  • Experience working in a scientific environment across disciplines, particularly physics, chemistry, materials science, and engineering.
  • A strong interest in climate change mitigation and the company’s mission.
Responsibilities
  • Work in the machine learning team as an individual contributor by building, testing, and deploying models.
  • Contribute to technical innovation and problem-solving across the machine learning lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the product team on customer projects by planning, designing, and delivering the required work packages, while contributing significantly to the wider product’s development.
  • Help establish best practices to improve internal processes.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of robust, maintainable, and scalable machine learning systems.
  • Build tooling that helps the team move faster and more sustainably.
  • Participate in continuous builds, tests, constructive code reviews, and ongoing engineering-process improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience with time-series modelling and industrial or Internet of Things data.
  • Experience with dynamical systems, reinforcement learning, system identification, optimisation, or Bayesian statistics.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment with an agile process.
  • A degree in machine learning, physics, or chemistry.
  • A solid understanding of modern cloud compute infrastructure as it relates to machine learning, with experience working with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, or other vendors.

Gigaton provides a SaaS platform that helps heavy industries cut emissions by building a digital twin for each plant using its historical and real-time data, with deep reinforcement learning to model processes. The Delta Zero AI layer suggests optimal operating parameters and can connect to a plant’s control systems for autonomous optimization without installing new hardware. It concentrates on cement, steel, and glass to lower fuel use, reduce operating costs, and drop CO2 emissions, with pilots showing up to 10% fuel savings and over 50 kilotonnes of CO2 reduced per plant per year. The aim is to scale industrial decarbonization by offering accessible optimization software to energy-intensive manufacturers worldwide.
