Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Four years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with engineering principles and their application for the operation and maintenance of steam, chilled water equipment, electrical generation, boilers, chillers, gas turbines, and/or distribution systems.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the safe and efficient operation of the power plant, chiller plant, and distribution systems.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and inspections, assist in monitoring operating systems, report plant status, and suggest corrective action plans.
  • Follow industry standards and established procedures under limited supervision.
  • Communicate equipment condition and performance information to plant management and plant personnel and provide suggestions for plant improvements.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of the maintenance workforce, including employees and contractors, to ensure safe and reliable delivery of utilities.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing equipment, systems, and services shutdowns to minimize customer impact and maintain reliability while completing repairs cost-effectively.
  • Supervise the day-to-day custodial and/or maintenance operations of a unit, department, or school building.
  • Participate in developing and implementing building-maintenance policies and procedures and develop preventive-maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct building inspections and coordinate facility and physical-plant repairs and maintenance.
  • Determine staff assignments, tool and equipment requirements, and procedures for projects and work requests.
  • Plan, estimate, coordinate, and follow up on repairs, renovations, and trade projects.
  • Coordinate service-response activities with various trades and ensure timely delivery and completion of service work in assigned buildings and surrounding areas.
  • Develop detailed work plans and establish daily assignment priorities and staff schedules.
  • Ensure current maintenance programs and operating procedures meet customer needs and regulatory requirements, including building codes and Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
  • Interact with internal contacts to arrange custodial or physical-plant services and discuss maintenance and renovation projects.
  • Interact with outside contacts to discuss maintenance, renovation, and construction plans, arrange repairs, and obtain price-quote information.
  • Manage a staff of non-exempt employees.
Desired Qualifications
  • Power plant-specific or maritime engine room experience.
  • Engineer-in-training or professional engineer license.
