Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The position requires OCFS and University of Rochester Compliance Office background clearance for work with minors.
Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with co-counselors to plan and implement classroom lessons using the Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies (PATHS) curriculum for a classroom of six assigned children, including managing behaviors, using behavior management and reward systems to encourage positive social-emotional habits and coping skills, working with the program supervisor on crisis intervention events, and monitoring clinical concerns for program children.
  • Participate in group and individual supervision meetings with the direct supervisor to address classroom management, behavioral, and co-counseling challenges.
  • Monitor buses to support the safe and efficient transportation of children to and from the program, communicate transportation changes with the assistant program coordinator and Mt. Hope Family Center bus drivers, and ensure adherence to bus rules and regulations.
  • Meet face to face with co-counselors once per week to plan weekly lessons and classroom structure and prepare activity materials.
  • Commit to all required training and program dates without exception, with flexibility for scheduled program time frames and additional time before and after program sessions.
  • Complete lesson plans remotely on non-program days when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A valid New York State driver's license is preferred but not required.
