  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current registration or eligibility for licensure with the State of Illinois to practice as a professional nurse.
  • Completion of Oncology Nurse training within one year of joining the team.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, coordinate, and perform nursing care for an assigned group of patients and their families while incorporating preventative measures.
  • Assess the full scope of patient needs using the nursing process continuously.
  • Use past nursing experience to anticipate problems and seek multidisciplinary collaboration when necessary.
  • Recognize patterns and trends that may predict the direction of illness.
  • Promote safety throughout patients’ and families’ transitions across the healthcare continuum.
  • Anticipate and monitor patient and family changes and respond appropriately.
  • Resolve patient complaints effectively.
  • Engage patients in a personalized, compassionate manner.
  • Consult and coordinate with team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Use evidence-based practice and customer service data to improve caring practices.
  • Plan and communicate patient care plans effectively.
  • Facilitate active involvement of others in team meetings regarding patient care or practice issues.
  • Seek opportunities to be taught, coached, and mentored.
  • Recruit diverse resources when appropriate to optimize patient outcomes.
