Requirements
  • Technical team supervisory skills and manpower reports (metrics/KPIs)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) experience. Planning, Product Design & Development, Process Design and Development, Product and Process Validation, & Feedback and Continuous Improvement
  • 8D or similar method problem solving experience. Identifying correcting, and eliminating recurring engineering problems
  • Manufacturing/assembly process experience
  • Metrology equipment knowledge or GD&T knowledge a plus. Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing - Understanding basic dimensions defined as a numerical value to communicate manufacturing constraints. (Possible Metrology Equipment used but not limited to - CMM for part inspections, Laser scanners for system calibration, measurement equipment for weld cross sections)
  • Statistical process control / control charts
  • Good electronic communication software skills (MS Office, Minitab, email, etc.)
  • 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt desired
  • Engineering, Quality, Technical Bachelor-Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5+ year's Leadership experience in manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day
  • Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather
Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of Quality Leaders, Engineers, & Production Associates with a high level of problem solving engineering methodologies. (DMAIC, PDCA, 5 Why Analysis, Ishakawa Diagram, etc.)
  • Ensure Advanced quality planning execution to develop solid internal process capability
  • Responsible for product and process validation and inspection plans
  • Develop and deliver focused quality training on various topics
  • Responsible for quality control team performance including recommendation of hiring, performance, discipline, wage and salary reviews
  • Maintains a high-quality relationship with the production managers and group leaders
  • Support for 8D/RCCA & Rivian 5 resolution for all internal and supplier quality issues
  • Accountable for execution of quality related continuous improvement projects
  • Responsible to manage quality control capital expenses and budgeting
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards, standard work, safety, and overall performance of the quality validation team. (Data analysis - SQL, Tableau, Minitab, JMP)
  • Act as key organizer of all Manufacture Quality Reviews in the drive unit area
  • Monitor, present, and develop action plans for internal plant quality performance metrics (First Pass Yield, Total Yield, Scrap Rates, Defect Rates to name a few)
  • Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision
  • Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties and delegated tasks
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises
  • Execute direct report performance reviews and decide reward / promotion based on results
  • Review and approve direct report travel and other expenses
  • Establish robust defect monitoring and SPC (Statistical Process Control) to drive DPU (Defects per Unit) down
  • Help analyze sources of scrap and drive action to reduce with cross functional teams
  • Evaluate control plan and develop robust execution plan to maintain it
