The Role – 💡 Be a leader. Be a mentor. Be the difference.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Deputy Team Manager to join our Daytime AMHP Team within Adult Social Care.
Working alongside the Team Manager, you will provide operational leadership, supervision, and specialist advice to a team of Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) and social care staff. You will ensure effective triage of referrals, oversee Mental Health Act Assessments, and provide professional oversight to safeguard adults, children, and young people.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervising and supporting staff, including trainee AMHPs, to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred practice.
• Leading day-to-day operations, ensuring effective allocation of cases and adherence to statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007), Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the Care Act 2014.
• Carrying out Mental Health Act Assessments as a warranted AMHP, ensuring least restrictive options are considered.
• Managing performance, case quality, and safeguarding practice.
• Working collaboratively with NHS partners, courts, voluntary organisations, and across Brent Council services.
• Deputising for the Team Manager when required and contributing to policy development and service improvement.
About You - 👤 An experienced AMHP. A confident leader. A champion for safe practice.
We are looking for:
• A registered social worker with a current AMHP warrant.
• Substantial post-qualifying experience in adult social care and mental health practice.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and support staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of the legislative framework, safeguarding, and best practice in adult mental health.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience of working successfully in multi-agency settings.
• A flexible and resilient leader, committed to continuous service improvement and professional development.
