Requirements
  • Engineering Undergraduate Degree (Civil Engineering or Earth Science)
  • Registered as a P.Eng. or P. Geo. is preferred although EIT is acceptable
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Excess Soils Management (O. Reg. 406/19) is preferred but not necessary
  • Ability to understand and resolve problems while on construction sites
  • Able to read drawings and specifications
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact when interacting with fellow staff, clients, consultants and contractors
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write clear field reports, including making recommendations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to construction sites as needed
Responsibilities
  • Carry out a wide range of Geotechnical projects including Geotechnical Investigations and Materials testing projects
  • Project coordination including arranging utility locates and site access, perform borehole layout
  • Prepare proposals for Geotechnical investigations and Materials Testing projects
  • Prepare geotechnical reports with deliverables within submission deadline
  • Collect samples for environmental (analytical) testing and prepare chain of custody form for submission to an independent laboratory
  • Assist with Inspection and Testing projects from a review/reporting perspective
  • Manage several projects in Geotechnical and Materials Testing area
  • Attend site from time to time to carry out footing/rebar inspections
