Requirements
  • Board-certified physician with an MD or DO degree in Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or another ABMS/AOA primary specialty, with the specified addiction medicine qualifications and significant substance use disorder treatment experience where applicable.
  • Active licensure in at least one U.S. state and willingness to obtain additional state licensure as needed.
  • DEA registration or an application in process, plus a current state-controlled substance license or an application in process.
  • Comfort working in an artificial-intelligence-augmented care environment and adopting AI-assisted tools for documentation, member communication, and clinical decision-making.
  • Experience in telemedicine and advanced comfort using digital platforms and electronic health records.
  • Ability to provide patient-centered addiction medicine care and participate in continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across teams and organizations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive substance use disorder care through virtual visits, including assessments, diagnosis, and medication management for substance use disorder and co-occurring conditions.
  • Prescribe and monitor medication-assisted treatment, including naltrexone, Suboxone, and other evidence-based pharmacotherapies, in collaboration with member operations.
  • Address concurrent mild to moderate anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and other mental health conditions associated with substance use disorder in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Use Atlas, Pelago’s AI-native electronic health record, for session documentation, evidence-based guidance, and clinical context preparation.
  • Collaborate with counselors, coaches, and member operations to deliver coordinated care that supports recovery and the member experience.
  • Participate in case reviews, journal clubs, grand rounds, and peer reviews to support clinical excellence and evidence-based care.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans and provide referrals based on clinical assessments and member needs.
  • Maintain accurate and current clinical documentation to support quality assurance, compliance, and patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients according to their individual needs, abilities, and recovery goals.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional projects with counselor, growth, and product teams to improve care delivery and member outcomes.
  • Help refine and implement clinical protocols, treatment standards, and policies.
  • Provide 10 hours per week of patient support.
Desired Qualifications
  • Addiction Psychiatry subspecialty certification or equivalent preferred for Psychiatry candidates.
  • Multi-state licensure, with Oklahoma or Pennsylvania preferred.
  • Interstate Medical Licensure Compact participation.
  • Previous experience in digital health or telemedicine environments.
