Requirements
  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester.
  • Nursing Assistants hired prior to May 2010 who did not possess certification as a Nursing Assistant are not required to obtain it at this time.
  • Must hold current Basic Life Support certification upon hire, issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Must complete an approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Must possess the skills, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must understand basic medical terminology.
  • Must be able to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must complete a background check and Live Scan.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Must comply with applicable vaccination policies and the drug-free environment policy.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Take and record vital signs.
  • Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
  • Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
  • Stock unit supplies.
  • Operate hospital equipment as directed.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks.
  • Assist with other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Patient care experience in an acute care setting.
