Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Wind or renewable energy disciplines are preferred, or another relevant discipline.
  • Affinity for mechanical work.
  • Back-office proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and follow safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision after receiving proper instructions.
  • Ability to address problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
  • Ability to free-climb 300 feet multiple times per day while wearing more than 25 pounds of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Applicants climbing turbines may not exceed 260 pounds due to personal protective equipment constraints.
  • Ability to pass a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to rescue teammates anywhere in a tower during an emergency.
Responsibilities
  • Complete a 24-month rotational program consisting of 12 months on site as an Associate Technician followed by three four-month back-office rotations.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on wind turbines using mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Follow company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping practices.
  • Learn advanced wind turbine troubleshooting and repair.
  • Establish and maintain system safety, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Support troubleshooting and repairs for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems at a site.
  • Generate required reports and other paperwork.
  • Recognize wind turbine error codes and report issues appropriately.
  • Assist in all areas of site operations.
  • Assist with high-voltage system maintenance and repair.
  • Learn operational processes by sitting with site managers, coordinators, and leads, including Plan of Day meetings, site budget management, site inventory management, contract bidding, out-of-scope work, and site takeover processes.
  • Shadow the recruitment and interview process for new technicians.
  • Complete additional DWT learning and development courses, including CAVU, TIGER Leadership Wheel, and Profit Specialist Training.
  • Serve as a member of the TIGER Committee to promote team building and company culture through initiatives.
  • Complete a capstone project covering learning from the back-office rotations and its connection to corporate assignments.
