Requirements
  • Demonstrated case-management and adjudication experience, including processing and managing physical exams and medical standards in a military medical environment or equivalent civilian aeromedical, occupational health, or disability evaluation system.
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire proficiency in, Air Force and Department of Defense medical systems including the Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System, Physical Exam Processing Program, Periodic Health Assessment programs, Joint Legacy Viewer, Management Internal Control Toolset, Salesforce, Moveit CIB, MyFSS, and BOMC KX.
  • Working knowledge of medical standards for retention, flying classes, Line of Duty determinations, and special operational duty, including the Aeromedical Waiver Guide and the Medical Standards Directory.
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disorders of human body systems, plus working knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding.
  • Excellent customer service and oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex medical and administrative instructions to a service member's level of understanding.
  • Proficiency with PDF software, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, plus proficient typing skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Tier 1 background investigation, National Agency Check with Inquiries, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, social work, health administration, or a related field, or equivalent case-management/adjudication experience gained in a military or civilian medical-standards environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead, supervisory, or team-coordination capacity within a case management, medical records, or medical administrative function.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the 15-person team and serve as the single point of contact for all Air Force Reserve Command support.
  • Process aeromedical and non-flying medical cases and update case status in the Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System, Electronic Case Tracking, and Physical Exam Processing Program as status changes.
  • Review case files submitted by Reserve Medical Units, the Aeromedical Consult Service, and Recruiting Services, confirming all required data is present before adjudication.
  • Provide quality assurance oversight on case dispositions completed by the Medical Case Manager team and identify errors before Government review.
  • Escalate urgent cases and coordinate evaluation schedules with the Aeromedical Consult Service, the nearest Military Treatment Facility, and outside civilian providers.
  • Notify the Contracting Officer's Representative in writing of staffing vacancies and estimated time to fill.
  • Notify the Contracting Officer's Representative of absences affecting the day's workflow within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.
  • Attend weekly transition meetings with the Government during onboarding and lead the team's system-access coordination and shadowing schedule.
  • Schedule Co-Work and PTOC part-time personnel across the Medical Case Manager and Aeromedical Administrative Specialist teams to cover normal operations and casework surges.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience leading or supervising a case management, medical records, or medical administrative team.
  • Prior experience in a military or federal health care setting.
  • Active professional license or certification such as Registered Nurse, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Certified Case Manager.
