Overview

Old Mission is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Chicago.  The AP Specialist will report directly to our firm’s Controller and be tasked with assisting in many aspects of accounting including areas such as recording of vendor invoices into our general ledger, month end close accounting and cost allocations to our trading centers. We are looking for a motivated and conscientious Accounts Payable Specialist who is ready to jump in and assist on multiple initiatives.  Your opinion will matter, and your experience and expertise will shape the processes that are implemented on a global level. What you will do:

• Assist in recording of invoices into our general ledger
• Ensure that expenses are allocated correctly to trading strategies to help facilitate accurate profit and loss reporting of our indirect expenses
• Assist in annual audits and provide information as requested by our auditors in a timely fashion
• Preparation of annual 1099s for tax purposes
• Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other duties as assigned

What you will need: 

• A Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages (Intacct preferred)
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong ability to analyze data and desire to improve processes
• Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with firm management in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task, think creatively, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
• A detail-oriented individual who has exceptional organizational and communication skills, ability to document processes and communicate with all levels of management and external vendors
• Impeccable ethics, integrity, and ability to work with confidential information are required

Nice to have:

• Prior Broker-Dealer or similar industry experience
• Experience supporting international businesses
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., pivot tables, SUMIF and related functions, etc.) or SQL familiarity
