Requirements
  • PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy as well as completion of a post-graduate residency or fellowship training
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 1 year of hire
  • Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship required or completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) plus minimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical specialist or equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring including 50% or more of time spent in the specialty area or
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a clinical specialist or of an equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring including 50% or more of time spent in the specialty area
Responsibilities
  • Caregivers in this role will directly work with inpatient care, while supporting physicians, clinical support staff and other pharmacists within the transplant side.
  • This collaborative role will support the cardiology, cardiovascular, and lung transplant teams.
  • Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients in the area of service responsibility.
  • Provide general and patient specific drug information to patients, physicians, nurses and other caregivers.
  • Interact and collaborate with other caregivers, especially those in transplant teams.
  • Ensure drug levels are maintained while supporting the transplant teams during transplants.
  • Support clinical pharmacist and technician educational development by participating in departmental staff development programs and provide leadership in the education of staff involved in providing pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Support clinical pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by direct interaction, and formal educational programs.
  • Support and participate in pharmaceutical related research in the area of specialty.
  • Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review and other educational activities.
  • Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses and physicians in pharmacotherapy within the specialty area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Cleveland Clinic partners with Luminai to automate healthcare workflows after $38M Series B

Cleveland Clinic has partnered with Luminai, a San Francisco-based AI startup, to automate complex administrative healthcare workflows. The collaboration coincides with Luminai's $38 million Series B funding round, bringing total capital raised to approximately $60 million, with backing from Peak XV Partners, General Catalyst, Define Ventures and Y Combinator. The health system, which employs over 80,000 staff across 23 hospitals, selected Luminai to address administrative burdens that account for roughly a quarter of US healthcare spending. Initial deployment focuses on referral management, where Cleveland Clinic processes thousands of daily faxes requiring manual review and routing. "The goal is to reduce administrative burden and allow our caregivers to focus on patient care," said Rohit Chandra, Cleveland Clinic's chief digital officer. The partnership reflects growing pressure on health systems to modernise operations whilst managing workforce shortages and rising costs.

Cleveland Clinic performs first US surgery with Medtronic's FDA-cleared Hugo robotic system

Medtronic has announced the first US commercial surgery using its FDA-cleared Hugo robotic-assisted surgery system, successfully performed at Cleveland Clinic by Dr Jihad Kaouk. The robotic-assisted prostatectomy patient was discharged the following day. The Hugo RAS system features a mobile footprint with modular arms designed to address operating room scheduling challenges and infrastructure limitations. The system aims to expand access to minimally invasive surgery, which offers benefits including reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays and decreased recovery time compared to open surgery. Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Hospital and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center are among the first US hospitals to install the system. The Hugo RAS system is available in over 35 countries. Medtronic plans to expand indications beyond urology into gynaecologic and general surgery procedures.
