Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or international equivalent is required.
  • At least 7 years of work experience, including at least 5 years in privacy or data protection, is required, ideally in a highly regulated sector such as investment banking, financial services, or fintech.
  • Deep, authoritative knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation and the German Federal Data Protection Act is required.
  • Experience serving as an appointed Data Protection Officer or Deputy Data Protection Officer, including direct experience managing relationships with German supervisory authorities, is required.
  • Professional fluency in both German and English, written and spoken, is mandatory.
  • The role requires the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliable follow-through.
  • The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk-based prioritization skills.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the designated Data Protection Officer for Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE and other EU-based affiliates and branches.
  • Serve as the primary official point of contact for German Federal and State Data Protection Authorities, including the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, and other EU supervisory authorities as required.
  • Provide expert, risk-based privacy guidance to business units, engineers, operations, and compliance teams for the compliant development of financial products, digital marketing initiatives, and technology platforms.
  • Advise on, facilitate, and monitor Data Protection Impact Assessments for high-risk processing operations, particularly complex financial technologies, profiling, and artificial intelligence-driven systems.
  • Align privacy risk management with financial regulatory frameworks, including BaFin requirements such as MaRisk and BAIT, and anti-financial-crime standards such as AML/KYC.
  • Advise on complex international data flows using Standard Contractual Clauses, Binding Corporate Rules, and transfer impact assessments.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy-program governance frameworks with Legal, Compliance, Technology, and Risk.
  • Shape and update internal privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect emerging regulatory expectations, German case law, and business realities.
  • Promote privacy accountability across the first line of defense through targeted training, education, and strategic influence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Law Degree is helpful.
  • Strong familiarity with the Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act and the EU Artificial Intelligence Act is highly desirable.
  • CIPP/E, TÜV/DEKRA, GDDcert.EU, or Betriebliche/r Datenschutzbeauftragte/r (IHK) certification is useful.
  • Experience in digital marketing and financial services is a plus.

ByteDance's $20B loan attracts $30B in orders to fund AI expansion

ByteDance has attracted over $30 billion in orders for a $20 billion offshore syndicated loan, representing 1.5 times oversubscription. The three-year facility, extendable to five years, marks the TikTok parent company's largest syndicated loan to date. This continues ByteDance's pattern of scaling up its borrowing. The company debuted in the syndicated loan market in 2019 with $1.335 billion and closed a $10.8 billion facility in 2024. Flexential secures $800M to develop 130+ MW of data centre capacity across four US markets

Flexential has secured an $800 million credit facility to fund data centre development across four US markets. The financing will support more than 130 MW of new capacity, including facilities under construction in Atlanta-Douglasville (36 MW), Portland-Hillsboro (36 MW), and Denver-Parker (22.5 MW). The facility was oversubscribed and increased 60% from an initial $500 million target. It is backed by an 11-bank syndicate, with TD Securities as administrative agent. The funding complements equity investment from Flexential's sponsors, GI Partners and MSIP. CEO Ryan Mallory said the financing enables the company to invest ahead of enterprise and AI-driven infrastructure demand. Flexential operates 40 data centres across 18 markets in the US.
