Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate courses relating to cooperative education and career development.
  • Provide a course designed to give students a forum to critically analyze and reflect on the relationship between theoretical learning and their field experience.
  • Oversee a cooperative education placement to gain practical experience in conjunction with this course.
  • Require students to investigate the challenges, opportunities, standards and implications of their career interests by examining the organization providing their work placement.
  • Direct students to design a portfolio demonstrating their career through leadership principles applied to practical situations, networking to increase post-graduate opportunities, professional presentation skills, business etiquette, cultural communication and personal branding.
  • Schedule courses that begin every semester for 12-14 weeks with starts in September and January; understand that positions are contingent upon enrollment, funding and departmental needs.
  • Course assignment and instruction for the Cooperative Education division of the College of Science for experiential learning and short-term practical experiences (internships and co-ops).
  • Course content includes self-assessment, industry analysis and research, interviewing and academic course of study.
Desired Qualifications
  • Work in experiential learning, career services or related field preferred.
  • Online teaching experience desirable.
  • Applicants with industry experience in Biotechnology or Life Sciences not required but a plus.
