Hilo By Aktiia creates medical wearables that measure blood pressure continuously without a cuff. Its Hilo Band is a wrist-worn device that provides automated 24/7 blood pressure monitoring and has both CE marking as a Class IIa medical device and FDA 510(k) clearance for over‑the‑counter use. The product works by gathering data from onboard sensors and applying algorithms to estimate blood pressure over time, allowing users to track BP at home without manual cuff inflations. Compared with others in the space, Hilo emphasizes cuffless, continuous monitoring designed for everyday wear and has obtained regulatory clearances that support broad consumer access. The company’s goal is to expand globally and broaden product development, moving from Aktiia to Hilo to reflect its international ambitions and scale its reach in digital health and consumer medical devices.

Hilo raises $19M Series B extension to replace 145-year-old blood pressure cuff with continuous monitoring

Swiss healthtech Hilo has raised $19 million in a Series B extension led by Dell Family Office, bringing total funding to over $119 million. The company is expanding its wearable blood pressure monitoring platform into the US market. Hilo's system combines a wrist-worn optical sensor, an FDA-cleared cuff, and algorithm-driven analytics to deliver 30–35 blood pressure readings daily, replacing traditional cuff measurements with continuous monitoring. The technology is built on 20 years of research and is already used by over 200,000 people globally. The company says a real-world study of 30,000 users found that highly engaged participants achieved up to five times greater reductions in systolic blood pressure over six months. The global blood pressure monitoring devices market is projected to reach $8.56 billion by 2033.

Hilo launches blood pressure health system tracking long-term patterns beyond traditional cuff snapshots

Hilo, a health technology brand developed by Aktiia, has launched Hilo Core in the US, described as the world's first blood pressure health system providing long-term insights rather than occasional snapshots. The system bridges traditional cuff-based monitors and consumer wearables. Originally developed in Switzerland, Hilo's technology is backed by over two decades of research, validated through eight clinical studies, and used by more than 200,000 people globally. The launch targets the nearly half of US adults with high blood pressure, according to American Heart Association studies. Dr Marat Fudim, associate professor of cardiology at Duke University and medical adviser to Hilo, said the system helps individuals with hypertension manage their condition through consistent, longitudinal insights, enabling earlier intervention.
