Sensata Technologies has launched OmniNode, an off-the-shelf power distribution solution for commercial electric vehicles. The patent-pending platform consolidates high-voltage functions including switching, protection, monitoring and control into a single system. OmniNode integrates proven technologies from Sensata's portfolio, including contactors, fuses and current sensors. This approach aims to reduce engineering complexity, shorten development timelines and enable deployment across multiple vehicle platforms. The solution targets battery electric on- and off-road commercial vehicles, including Class 5 and above trucks and buses. By standardising power distribution architecture, OmniNode helps manufacturers simplify validation processes and accelerate electrification programmes. Brian Wilkie, executive vice president at Sensata, said the platform delivers an integrated approach to help engineers manage increasing system complexity whilst scaling electrification efforts. The solution supports DC charging and high-voltage power distribution within commercial vehicle architectures.
Sensata introduces OmniNode for commercial EV charging. The commercial EV transition is forcing a rethink of power distribution architecture at the heavy vehicle platform level. * September 8, 2026 Sensata Technologies has introduced OmniNode, a patent-pending off-the-shelf system that consolidates high-voltage power distribution functions for battery electric commercial vehicles. The platform integrates switching, protection, sensing, diagnostics, communications and charging in a single unit, replacing multiple discrete components to reduce development complexity. Built around proven Sensata technologies including contactors, fuses and current sensors, the platform supports DC charging, high-voltage switching and circuit protection for Class 5 and above trucks and buses, on- and off-road. A standardised architecture enables deployment across vehicle programmes without custom engineering per platform. "Commercial vehicle manufacturers are under pressure to scale electrification programs while managing increasing system complexity," Brian Wilkie, Executive Vice President and President of Aerospace, Defense and Commercial Equipment at Sensata Technologies, said. "With the OmniNode, we are delivering an integrated, off-the-shelf approach that helps engineers simplify power distribution architecture, accelerate development timelines and bring greater consistency and efficiency to vehicle platform design." Sensata says the OmniNode is now part of a broader system-level portfolio in commercial vehicle electrification. The company says the product is also designed to support fleet operators and OEMs facing evolving power and charging needs across vehicle types and variants.

Sensata launches dual-trigger HV protection device. Sensata Technologies has introduced the Active + Passive PyroFuse, the STPS500P Series, for high-voltage protection in electric vehicles, commercial transportation, charging infrastructure and industrial electrification systems. The device combines signal-triggered pyrotechnic interruption with a mechanically driven current-based passive trigger in a single package, providing redundant protection and millisecond-level response independent of current level to help protect contactors, busbars and downstream components. By combining active and passive protection in one device, the PyroFuse can help OEMs simplify high-voltage architectures, reduce component sizing and lower overall system cost and complexity.
