Requirements
  • BS in computer science, or its equivalent
  • 7 years of relevant experience with demonstrated proficiency and progressive responsibilities to include Informatica PowerCenter
  • Linux
  • Solid MS SQL Server database skills including the ability to write complex SQL and stored procedures
  • Fact and Dimensional data, including slowly changing dimensions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SOAP/XML and REST/JSON API use, including the use of oAuth and oAuth2
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize and plan work to satisfy established timeframes
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated experience in performance tuning for Informatica ETL processing
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency converting shell and Perl programming to Informatica Objects
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work comfortably with all levels within an organization and across business function
Responsibilities
  • Develop ETL applications using Informatica.
  • Focus on developing Extract, Transformation and Loading procedures for implementing data integration and data loading tasks in support of the EDW/BI project.
  • Act as the Sr. ETL Engineer for the TWC EDW/BI project.

Weather Channel app adds hyperlocal pollen forecasts to help allergy sufferers plan their day

The Weather Channel app has launched an enhanced allergy experience featuring hyperlocal pollen forecasts and environmental insights to help users better understand seasonal symptoms. The free update includes neighbourhood-level pollen data at 5km x 5km resolution, powered by data provider Ambee. Key features include Weather Aggravator Insights, which analyses how weather conditions like wind or humidity affect airborne allergens, peak pollen tracking, daily comparisons to previous conditions, and 10 years of historical data. The app integrates pollen forecasts into standard five-day weather outlooks. Premium features launching later this summer will include subspecies details identifying specific tree pollens like cedar or oak, hourly pollen forecasts and radar layers, and an integrated symptom tracker. The enhanced experience is now available on iOS and Android.

Weather Company and Steller integrate travel video into weather.com to capture intent

The Weather Company and Steller have launched a collaboration integrating immersive travel videos into weather.com city pages, targeting travellers at the moment they search weather forecasts for out-of-town destinations. The partnership aims to transform local weather searches into a travel discovery platform for hundreds of millions of monthly users. The integration surfaces creator-led destination videos when users check forecasts, enabling Destination Marketing Organisations to reach potential travellers before they turn to search engines or social platforms. Steller's embedded videos connect directly to trip booking via the Steller platform. The experience is now live in select markets on weather.com. In return, Steller app users will receive forecasts powered by The Weather Channel brand, creating what the companies call a bi-directional ecosystem combining weather data with travel content.

MITRE and The Weather Company partner to develop world's first 1-km AI-based forecasting system using 7 petabyte dataset

MITRE and The Weather Company have announced a strategic collaboration to advance AI-based weather forecasting using high-resolution data. The Weather Company will integrate MITRE's Weather 1K dataset into its Global High-Resolution Atmospheric Forecasting system to develop more accurate forecasts. Weather 1K provides weather estimations across the continental United States with one-kilometre spatial resolution in 10-minute increments, totalling roughly seven petabytes of data. The dataset was developed using MITRE's Federal AI Sandbox, powered by NVIDIA technology with 248 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. The Weather Company aims to develop the world's first one-kilometre AI-based forecasting system, enabling hyper-local predictions for agriculture, aviation, wildland fire management and extreme weather events. The collaboration will continue to advance weather forecasting solutions for industry and government applications.
