Requirements
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant is required.
  • Applicants must be a high school graduate or have an equivalent qualification.
  • Applicants must successfully complete Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school, unless they have at least one year of verifiable and applicable Certified Medical Assistant work experience in a patient care setting.
  • Applicants must maintain current Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Applicants must maintain current certification or registration as an accepted medical assistant credential from an approved certifying agency.
  • Applicants must have phlebotomy experience.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care under the direction of a physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory setting.
  • Support quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process-improvement activities.
  • Gather patient data through interviews and observation.
  • Assist patients and families with preparation for examinations.
  • Assist the physician or Advanced Practice Provider during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform routine treatments and administer approved medication types.
  • Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to organizational and department-specific policies.
  • Act as a patient liaison by scheduling specialty testing and physician consultations and providing scheduling information.
  • Process incoming and outgoing calls independently using clinical judgment.
  • Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under provider direction.
  • Follow organizational and department-specific policies, procedures, safety practices, infection-control standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess patient data and provide care appropriate to the age-specific needs of patients in the assigned department.
  • Assist the business office with reception, scheduling, and patient discharge as needed.
  • Use supplies efficiently.
