Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Develop and provide a mentorship structure for student employees' career readiness.
  • Collaborate with Library staff to create co-curricular library student projects.
  • Develop and assess learning objectives related to student projects.
  • Manage timelines and communication for student projects with Library staff and student employees.
  • Train student employees on customer service, circulation, and related library activities.
  • Develop procedures and policies for student manager peer leadership.
  • Coordinate with Library staff on training Library student employees.
  • Develop student training materials for User Services with the User Services Librarian and staff.
  • Participate in Library and campus committees relating to student employment and training.
  • Manage student employees in User Services.
  • Develop and maintain User Services student employee schedules.
  • Assign student employee work responsibilities with User Services staff.
  • Review and approve User Services student employee timesheets according to the payroll schedule.
  • Coordinate the hiring of student employees for User Services.
  • Participate in the assessment and review of User Services student employees.
  • Track and manage the student employee budget.
  • Provide and maintain routine circulation services and customer service at the Circulation Desk.
  • Ensure the appropriate circulation and security of library materials.
  • Promote library services and assist patrons in using them.
  • Support the library's general policies and procedures.
  • Respond to user questions and complaints.
  • Troubleshoot library equipment, including computers and printers.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external library outreach to the main campus and communities.
  • Develop collaborative programs and services with university units, organizations, and community groups.
  • Cultivate and maintain working relationships with liaisons from campus units.
  • Manage programming events according to planned timelines and budgets.
  • Collect and analyze data and feedback to assess outreach efforts.
  • Participate in outreach-related Library work groups and teams.
  • Remain current on university and library policies regarding student employment.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities.
  • Attend library and university meetings as needed.
  • Work on special projects as needed.
  • Follow applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex problems for library resources and services.
  • Track or manage a program budget.
  • Supervise the day-to-day work of employees and student workers, including training and approving hours.
  • Generate and analyze reports of library programs, operations, and service outcomes.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day functions of library programs, operations, and services.
  • Develop and implement outreach programming and services.
  • Work independently in specialized service areas or operations.
  • Recommend, communicate, and oversee operating policies and procedures for assigned areas.
  • Identify opportunities and implement improvements to programs, processes, procedures, and services.
