Central Business Office Payment Poster Associate

We are seeking a Central Business Office Payment Poster Associate to join our Buckner team. The Central Business Office Payment Poster Associate will be responsible for providing critical support to all BRS communities by completing essential administrative tasks. This role is responsible for medical billing, payment posting, insurance verification, and accounts receivable follow-up, ensuring the smooth functioning of our retirement communities. What you'll do:

• Create and submit payment posting batches within MyUnity.
• Monitor changes in Medicare regulations and adjust billing practices accordingly.
• Receive payment information and EOBs from insurance companies, residents and other third-party payers.
• Post payments to patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner.
• Reconcile payment information and EOBs to ensure all payments are accurate.
• Research and resolve any payment discrepancies or issues.
• Communicate with insurance companies and residents as needed to obtain missing payments information.
• Maintain accurate records of all payment transactions and reconcile balances.
• Work closely with the Medical Billing Associate to ensure timely and accurate payments are received.
• Keep up to date with changes in payment processing and insurance requirements.
• Identify and resolve credit balance, processing refunds or adjustments when necessary.
• Verification of resident insurance as necessary for any payment issues that may arise.
• Assist with obtaining any authorization prior to resident being admitted into SNF.
• Escalate complex denial trends and unresolve accounts to the Healthcare Billing manager as necessary.
• Follow Buckner International billing policies and compliance guidelines, including HIPAA protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring:

• Understanding and ability to use simple arithmetic and grammar with accuracy. High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required. Minimum 1-2 years prior related experience performing medical billing, payment posting or a related field.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and practices.
• Experience working with medical billing software.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
• Excellent communication skills, especially phone skills, that encourage the establishment and maintenance of cooperative, positive relations with both internal and external stakeholders (residents, residents family members, insurance companies, colleagues, etc.).
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
• Ability to set priorities and work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Requires basic understanding of bookkeeping principles.
• May require some travel to assist other communities.
• Requires proficient ability to speak, read and write English.
• Requires ability to speak clearly and make self-understood effectively in fact to face interactions; articulate with accuracy to speak on the phone.
• Requires ability to hear and receive verbal instructions, answer phones, communicate with people in situations with some background noise.

• Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer related tasks with specific equipment and software applications required; ability to use other office machinery including telephone, typewriter, copy machine, fax machine, postage machine, and adding machine.
• Requires commitment to Christian principles and teachings, per Buckner’s mission statement.
• Requires ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
