Beauty Commerce Writer
Conde Nast is seeking a Beauty Commerce Writer to craft unique and compelling shopping-focused beauty content for Vogue.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about the beauty industry from a shopping lens and possess a strong background in both writing and the beauty market space. The candidate should be comfortable writing reviews, interviewing experts, and be able to skillfully position a story to attract readers and retain loyal audiences while maintaining the Vogue standard and voice by providing thoughtful, well-researched information that aids in decision-making.
The Beauty Commerce Writer should be comfortable optimizing all shopping content, using best practices for affiliate and SEO. The ideal candidate should also be capable of analyzing traffic data and conversion results to inform future stories, as well as brainstorming new ways to engage our audience around shopping-driven stories on all our digital platforms, including social, newsletter, and storefront. The candidate should have a strong editorial eye and taste level with a passion for curation and discovery. This role reports into Vogue’s Senior Beauty Shopping Writer.
Pitch, write, update, and optimize an average of 8 stories weekly, working with the Vogue Shopping team to ensure that all content & product recommendations feel modern and on-brand.
Test products and manage the sourcing of relevant reviews and creative assets (photos, videos, etc.) from a wider network of contributors
Help with beauty & wellness market optimizations on Vogue.com and across platforms
Work with the Senior Beauty Shopping Writer and Senior Shopping Editor to manage and execute a long-term shopping editorial calendar to feature and stay ahead on seasonal shopping content
Assist in managing beauty market samples, including but not limited to incoming packages in the beauty closet, product call-ins for shoots, and miscellaneous testing
Identify and help plan around editorial categories, SEO keywords, seasonal tent poles, and personal narratives that present a commerce opportunity for Vogue, studying purchasing data, tracking site analytics, and performing competitive analysis of comparable sites
Identify new shopping opportunities including trending products and industry trends
Coordinate closely with the commerce, audience development, and editorial teams to share data and best practices that can inform editorial decision making.
Drive a clear editorial point of view for product and shopping recommendations appealing to the Vogue reader.
Stay abreast of beauty market trends, industry innovations, product launches etc, and feed ideas, with a POV, back to the wider editorial and commerce teams
Skills & Qualifications
A minimum of two years writing or editing commerce/affiliate content at a digital property, as well as a strong command of SEO best practices
Impeccable editorial judgment and journalistic integrity
An ability to write conversationally with authority and accuracy while capturing Vogue’s voice
Experience in managing product sourcing logistics at a digital property (either editorial or commerce)
A finger to the pulse on the shopping content that’s popular on social media and the beauty industry at large
Ability to analyze performance across different verticals, product categories, retailers, and content types
Strong organizational skills, a self-directed work style, and polished communication skills
A self-starter who relishes the opportunity to directly accelerate the growth of Condé Nast commerce business
This is a guild position.
The expected base salary range for this position is from $70,000-$93,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
