Requirements
  • A minimum HCA Provincial Certification is required.
  • Fluency in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
  • At least five years of experience as a Health Care Aide or in another nursing designation in a continuing-care setting is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including supervision, leadership, judgment, and interpersonal skills, are required.
  • Experience caring for residents with dementia is required.
Responsibilities
  • Support care staff in attaining and maintaining quality care within a person-centered model of care.
  • Review trends in incident reports and medication incident reports and ensure prompt corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in Provincial Continuing Care Health Service Standard compliance processes and complete action-plan development with follow-up.
  • Report critical or reportable incidents and allegations of resident abuse in collaboration with the Executive Director or Director of Care and the Community Registered Nurse Case Manager.
  • Ensure residents are admitted in accordance with organizational policy and provincial standards.
  • Oversee the resident-admission process in collaboration with the Community Placement Coordinator, including selecting potential residents while balancing safety, roommate suitability, and space considerations.
  • Ensure bed vacancies are filled within six working days and that the facility remains fully occupied.
  • Ensure resident annual care conferences are scheduled.
  • Keep the Executive Director, Director of Care, and facility management team informed of emerging issues.
  • Promote teamwork and practices that respect resident, family, and staff rights, individuality, and diversity.
