The list, which can be found at Inc.com, honors American companies that have built exceptional workplaces and vibrant cultures that support their teams and businesses, whether in-person, remote, or hybrid. The award is the result of comprehensive measurement and evaluation of hundreds of applicants. The process involved a detailed employee survey conducted by Quantum Workplace, covering critical elements such as management effectiveness, perks, professional development, and overall company culture. Each company's benefits were also audited to determine the overall score. ReflexAI is honored to be included among the 507 companies recognized this year. John Callery, Cofounder and Chief Product & Technology Officer, ReflexAI added, "Being named to this list genuinely means something to me, and specifically because of how it's determined. Google Gemini enhances mental health support for organizations. April 7, 2026 Google's latest updates to its mental health support tool, Gemini, aim to provide immediate and effective connections for users in crisis situations. With mental health becoming an increasingly pressing issue among communities and businesses, these enhancements could benefit small business owners by fostering a healthier work environment and providing valuable resources for employees. The redesigned "Help is available" module will now surface when conversations indicate a potential mental health crisis. This proactive feature not only highlights the resource but also connects users to crisis hotline options through a new "one-touch" interface. Users can easily chat, call, text, or visit a crisis hotline website, ensuring that help is just a tap away. Notably, the option remains visible throughout the conversation, serving as a continuous reminder for those in distress to seek support. Google.org's commitment to mental health extends beyond improving access to their tools. The organization announced a significant $30 million investment over the next three years aimed at scaling global hotline capacities. This funding is designed to enhance immediate and safe support for individuals in crisis, a vital aspect for small business owners who may encounter employees facing mental health challenges. Additionally, Google is expanding its collaboration with ReflexAI, committing $4 million in direct funding. This partnership will enhance mental health support services within social organizations by integrating Gemini into ReflexAI's training suite. The initiative aims to equip staff and volunteers with AI-powered simulations that prepare them for critical conversations. Such training could prove invaluable for small businesses, enabling teams to better understand and support colleagues experiencing mental health difficulties. Mental health is not just a personal issue; it often extends into workplace dynamics. Small business owners should be aware of how they can leverage these tools to create a more supportive environment. With Gemini, managers and team leaders can access resources to guide sensitive discussions and provide appropriate support. This capability is particularly crucial as employees increasingly seek workplaces that prioritize mental health and well-being. However, while Gemini offers a robust tool for information, it's important to note its limitations. Google stresses that the tool is not a substitute for professional clinical care or therapy. This distinction is critical for small business owners who may rely on technology for guidance yet need to understand when to direct employees to professional services. Proper training on how to use the tool effectively can ensure that employers are not inadvertently misguiding workers struggling with their mental health. Moreover, Google is taking steps to protect younger users through specific design features. For instance, Gemini has mechanisms to prevent emotional dependence and to avoid inappropriate or harmful interactions. These safeguards could also extend to businesses employing younger workers, allowing companies to cultivate a safe digital environment that resonates with the values of a new generation entering the workforce. In a world where mental health awareness is growing, Google's updates serve as a timely reminder of the critical role technology can play in fostering support systems. Small business owners are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these advancements as they continue to navigate the complexities of employee well-being. As more individuals turn to digital platforms for assistance, integrating robust mental health resources into small business practices will likely become essential. By utilizing tools like Gemini, entrepreneurs can not only support their employees more effectively but also contribute to creating a healthier workplace culture overall. Google updates Gemini to improve mental health responses. Abner Li Apr 7 2026 - 3:00 am PT In a reflection of one increasingly common AI use case, Google today announced a series of Gemini updates to help when users ask about mental health. The company believes that "responsible AI can play a positive role for people's mental well-being." When the chat "indicates a potential crisis related to suicide or self-harm," Gemini will now show a "one-touch" interface to connect users to hotline resources with options to call, chat, text, or visit a website. Once activated, this card will remain visible throughout the conversation. Responses are designed to "encourage people to seek help." Discover more Chrome OS laptops Ray-Ban smart glasses Tech news subscription If a conversation signals the user "may need information about mental health," Gemini will surface a redesigned "Help is available" module. It's been developed with clinical experts "to provide more effective and immediate connections to care." Overall, Google is training Gemini models to "help recognize when a conversation might signal that a person may be in an acute mental health situation" and direct them to real-world resources. Responses are designed to "encourage help-seeking while avoiding validation of harmful behaviors like urges to self-harm." Additionally, Gemini is trained "not to agree with or reinforce false beliefs, and instead gently distinguish subjective experience from objective fact." For younger users, Google has additional protections: * Persona protections designed to prevent Gemini from acting like a companion, including guardrails preventing it from claiming to be a human or possessing human attributes. * Protections intended to prevent emotional dependence, avoiding language that simulates intimacy or expresses needs. * Safeguards against encouraging bullying or other types of harassment. Finally, Google.org today announced $30 million in funding over three years to help global hotlines increase their capacity. Specific efforts include: * "We are expanding our partnership with ReflexAI to help social sector organizations scale their mental health support services. This initiative includes $4 million in direct funding and the integration of Gemini into ReflexAI's training suite." * "...Google.org Fellows will provide pro bono technical expertise to help evolve Prepare, a customizable platform that uses realistic, AI-powered simulations to train staff and volunteers for critical conversations. Priority partners for this new stage include education organizations like Erika's Lighthouse and Educators Thriving." FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links. More.
Google updates Gemini to provide mental health assistance, crisis resources. The "Help is available" and "one-touch" modules are designed to give users showing signs of mental health distress immediate access to support. Google has updated its Gemini AI offering with a "Help is available" module that will provide connections to care when a conversation signals a user may need mental health support, and a "one-touch" interface with an immediate connection to a crisis hotline should the AI recognize references to possible suicide or self-harm. The "Help is available" module will provide immediate connections to real-world resources and human support, while the "one-touch" offering will provide a direct route to quickly connect with real-world crisis hotlines or support services via call, text, chat or through the hotline's website. Google said it has also designed better responses within Gemini to encourage users to seek help "while avoiding validation of harmful behaviors like urges to self-harm." Gemini will also avoid "confirming false beliefs," according to the tech giant, meaning it has trained Gemini "not to agree with or reinforce false beliefs, and instead gently distinguish subjective experience from objective fact." The tech giant is also committing $30 million globally over three years to help crisis hotlines scale their capacity to offer immediate support. Google is also expanding its partnership with AI-enabled training simulation and quality assurance tool company ReflexAI to help scale mental health support in social sector organizations. THE LARGER TREND According to a Tracking Poll on health information and trust released by KFF in March, around a third of adults (32%) are using AI for health information and advice, including about three in ten (29% saying they use AI for advice on their physical health and one in six (16%) using the technology for mental health information or advice. Numerous tech giants, including ChatGPT maker OpenAI, have acknowledged that their AI is being used by users for mental healthcare, especially among teens. In October, the company announced it added parental controls to its AI platform, equipped with mental health notifications. "If our systems detect potential harm, a small team of specially trained people reviews the situation. If there are signs of acute distress, we will contact parents by email, text message and push alert on their phone, unless they have opted out," OpenAI said in a statement. Last year, Anthropic released an analysis on how Claude is used for support, advice and companionship, after examining roughly 4.5 million Claude.ai conversations to understand how individuals emotionally engage with the company's AI. The company highlighted how some individuals use Claude to work through personal challenges pertaining to anxiety, chronic symptoms and workplace stress, and for "deeper exploration of both personal struggles and intellectual questions." Anthropic ultimately emphasizes that the AI is not a substitute for professional mental healthcare, and the analysis's findings underscore the potential and limitations of AI as a companion for mental health support, highlighting the importance of guiding users toward real-world support when needed.
