Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in healthcare and/or a related field is required.
  • Complete the Good Clinical Practice Course, Clinical Research Coordinator Foundations Course, and Clinical Research Coordinator Advanced Course from the CITI Program within 30 days of hire and renew the courses according to institutional policy.
  • Have three years of current experience in an acute care hospital, medical center, health system, or related industry.
  • Obtain ACRP Certified Clinical Research Coordinator or SOCRA Certified Clinical Research Professional certification upon eligibility.
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate data.
  • Coordinate multiple projects.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and other relevant software applications.
  • Work independently and as a team member.
  • Apply knowledge of good clinical practice, an international ethical and scientific quality standard for designing, conducting, recording, and reporting trials involving human subjects.
  • Understand relevant technologies and tools pertinent to the role.
  • Use written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate compliance with the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, resolve compliance questions or concerns, and report suspected violations.
  • Recruit, educate, consent, schedule, and complete follow-up with patients or research subjects.
  • Participate in the design, planning, and conduct of clinical trial programs and clinical research projects.
  • Perform pre-investigation, initiation, and periodic monitoring visits to ensure that protocols, obligations, responsibilities, and regulations are established and followed.
  • Monitor subject records for quality, data integrity, regulatory compliance, and compliance with organizational standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in writing and auditing clinical reports.
  • Assist in developing protocols, case report forms, and informed consent documents.
  • Act as a liaison between sponsors, Contract Research Organization sites, and other department staff members.
  • Manage the negotiation and monitoring of budgets and contracts; formulate study budgets using protocols, manuals, study plans, and resource needs assessments; and support tools and training for study budgets, coverage analysis, invoiceable term-item tracking, and research billing.
  • Perform clinical site activities, including regulatory issues, patient accrual, patient scheduling and care coordination, data capture and monitoring, and adverse-event reporting.
  • Develop service, program, product, or indication expertise to communicate with clinicians, staff, departments, consultants, and leadership and provide expert advice.
  • Develop or contribute to standard operating procedures, best practices, tools, processes, and training that enhance safety and compliance with federal, local, and institutional regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage tracking and reporting of Serious Adverse Events and Adverse Events.
  • Work with physicians and leadership to develop and implement client trials and research programs and conduct activities related to evaluating, initiating, operationalizing, and conducting clinical trials.
  • Work with physicians and staff to facilitate research and enrollment in research studies and clinical trials.
  • Prepare and present materials to the Institutional Review Board; investigate and resolve problems and complaints; and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Develop educational and promotional materials for patients about available programs and clinical trials and maintain a mechanism for providing patients with clinical-trial availability information.
  • Accrue and monitor cases enrolled in programs and clinical trials and report to the governing committee.
  • Coordinate performance-improvement activities related to clinical trials and research.
  • Support investigators and maintain screening, enrollment, compliance, and statistical information for programs and trials; participate in planning short- and long-term objectives supporting the research program.
  • Develop and implement a community education program, including materials and lectures.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
  • ACRP Certified Clinical Research Coordinator or SOCRA Certified Clinical Research Professional certification is preferred and required upon eligibility.
  • Previous experience with clinical trials is preferred.
