As the Lead User Experience Designer on PitchBook’s Core Experience team, your expertise in navigation and information architecture design will be central to shaping large-scale and high-impact projects that define exceptional user experiences. You will leverage your deep understanding of enterprise taxonomies and their application to create intuitive and scalable frameworks that support complex user journeys. By designing robust navigation systems, you will empower our users to access critical data and insights effortlessly, driving efficiency and success for private equity investment professionals. Your role will involve tackling intricate design challenges with strategic vision, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams, and championing the role of thoughtful information architecture in delivering world-class products. Your work will be pivotal in enabling our customers to synthesize and act on financial data with clarity and precision.
With your deep expertise in all aspects of user-centered design, strong business acumen, and analytical skills, you will conduct research and analysis to understand customer needs and behaviors, develop design strategies and innovative product experiences, and leverage traditional and emerging technologies to bring them to life. In this role, you will partner strategically with Product and Engineering team members through the entire product lifecycle and engage key stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and drive understanding of your product experience strategies and solutions.
You will be expected to own and drive the user experience in your product domain and contribute to driving product direction, identifying and prioritizing the biggest opportunities to support our users and the business while maintaining a strong sense of product ownership and its resulting success. You will lead initiatives and product strategies delivered by multiple teams, at times leading other designers to deliver on coordinated roadmaps and releases. You will also contribute to the growth and development of the product design practice, mentoring team members and contributing to critical product design initiatives and programs.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Expertly utilize user-centered design and systems thinking skills in your day-to-day work to create solutions for complex data and user workflow challenges while maintaining a highly usable and scalable product experience
- Conduct user research and data analysis to understand user needs, behaviors, and motivators that lead to engagement and realization of customer value
- Develop customer journey maps, task and user flows, and design concepts to inform product strategies, priorities, and solutions that deliver customer and business outcomes
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering team members to create product strategies, roadmaps, and features to continuously deliver value to customers and support the end-to-end product vision
- Identify high-impact customer and business problems and define the strategies and product experience solutions to solve them
- Lead cross-team product experience strategies and designs to deliver holistic solutions that create exceptional customer value
- Translate abstract concepts into simple, elegant, and innovative designs expressed in sketches, diagrams, rapid prototypes, and detailed designs and documentation to support iterative product delivery
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of your design solutions and identify strategies for enhancement and improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in your work and with your product teams; seek new methods and practices that lead to greater impact and value
- Mentor and coach other designers to support their growth and ability to deliver excellent solutions
- Contribute to evolving design practices, tools, methods, and design maturity of our organization
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Design, Human Centered Design, Psychology, or equivalent
- 8+ years of professional experience in a Product Design/UX role, ideally in a large business or enterprise environment working on complex data and productivity solutions
- Expert-level knowledge of user-centered design practices and demonstrated experience applying them while leading end-to-end projects to achieve business and market outcomes
- Portfolio of past work including concepts, ideation, flows, and completed designs and final deliverables that demonstrate clear design thinking and craftsmanship
- Strong demonstration of design thinking skills, use of modern design best practices, and ability to create innovative and meaningful experiences that deliver user value and business results
- Exceptional ability to clearly communicate and support design decisions and how they lead to product experiences that deliver value
- Strong analytical skills, using qualitative and quantitative data to guide design strategies and decisions
- Experience balancing and leading multiple projects, organizing priorities, and delivering with discipline
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for the work you lead and deliver
- Intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and a collaboration-driven interaction style
- Humility, enthusiasm, and ability to build relationships, foster trust, and develop shared understanding
- Passion and enthusiasm for your craft and aspiration to excellence
- Proficiency with Figma, collaboration and analysis tools (Miro, Lucid, Mixpanel, Fullstory) and the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $175,000-$190,000
- Target annual bonus percentage: 12%
*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.
Working Conditions:
We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
