Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent is required.
  • A Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medication Aid credential is a plus.
  • A valid Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medication Technician license in Missouri is required.
  • The employee must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and read technical procedures.
  • The employee must be able to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • The employee must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.
  • The employee must maintain confidentiality of employee and resident information and comply with facility information-security requirements.
  • The employee must meet the facility's general health requirements, including a medical and physical examination.
  • The employee must be able to move intermittently, communicate understandably, function independently, and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • The employee must be able to push, pull, move, or lift at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry or move it at least 50 feet.
  • The employee may need to assist with resident evacuation during emergencies.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain current contact listings for resident care employees and department managers.
  • Maintain daily tardiness and absenteeism calendars and report excessive tardiness or absenteeism to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Coordinate modified-duty employee scheduling with the Human Resource Director and Director of Nursing Services in accordance with restrictions and facility policy.
  • Complete nursing department employee records for hiring, job reclassification, and discharge.
  • Assist employees with completing leave requests, day-off requests, time cards, and other scheduling forms.
  • Complete monthly nursing schedules, coordinate requests, and ensure appropriate unit coverage.
  • Complete and post worksheets and time schedules and coordinate variances with the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Assist with designated reports and file them according to established policies and procedures.
  • Answer employee staffing and scheduling calls and prepare written correspondence as necessary.
  • Answer applicant calls about position availability and coordinate interviews as appropriate.
  • Ensure newly hired nursing staff have time cards and schedules before orientation.
  • Obtain nursing staff information needed for daily posting requirements.
  • Consult with nursing staff and supervisors about staffing and scheduling needs and help correct problem areas or improve services.
  • Prepare written and oral reports or recommendations for the Director of Nursing Services about staffing and scheduling issues.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with interdepartmental personnel and other facility departments.
  • Review scheduling and staffing complaints and grievances and report them to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Attend required facility committee meetings, including safety and recruitment and retention committees.
  • Collect and compile records for committee or Director of Nursing Services review and prepare nursing labor reports for committees.
  • Implement committee recommendations as instructed.
  • Assist with interviewing Certified Nursing Assistants when requested.
  • Maintain attendance and tardiness records for employee performance appraisals.
  • Verify licenses, certifications, and current standing with state-approved agencies for new hires before orientation.
  • Maintain current certification and license records for nursing department employees.
  • Report known or suspected fraud, unsafe or hazardous conditions, defective equipment, and unauthorized information-system access.
  • Provide newly hired nursing personnel with orientation schedules and assign staff members to provide orientation.
  • Coordinate new-hire orientation schedules with unit managers and participating staff.
  • Attend scheduled in-service training and assist with records for in-service education and orientation classes.
  • Replenish nursing supervisory supplies and report equipment or supply needs.
  • Keep work areas clean and store equipment and supplies properly.
  • Work throughout the nursing service area and communicate with nursing personnel, department directors, residents, visitors, government personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, and provide temporary coverage in other positions when necessary.
  • Respond to emergency call-back conditions such as severe weather, evacuation, and post-disaster situations.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs.
