Requirements
  • A master's degree in a mental health field that prepares graduates for licensure, such as social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy.
  • For Clinician I, a provisional mental health license in Utah and eligibility for independent licensure in Utah as a mental health provider within two years of hire.
  • For Clinician II, current Utah licensure or the ability to secure licensure by the hire date allowing independent practice.
  • Clinical experience working with young adults ages 18–25.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and clinical documentation systems.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver student-centered wellness and prevention programming in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine Wellness Program Lead.
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment activities related to student wellbeing and wellness-program outcomes.
  • Support the planning and implementation of student orientation activities centered on student wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with College of Veterinary Medicine Student Services on student wellness activities.
  • Participate as a contributing member of the College of Veterinary Medicine Wellness Committee.
  • Provide input on curriculum development with attention to student wellbeing.
  • Provide individual therapy, clinical consultation, intake, assessment, crisis interventions, and potentially group therapy.
  • Conduct drop-in hours for College of Veterinary Medicine students.
  • Prepare for sessions and maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical service records.
  • Provide instructional support in professional skills courses in the College of Veterinary Medicine degree curriculum as needed.
  • Provide consultation to College of Veterinary Medicine faculty and staff regarding student mental health concerns.
  • Participate in administrative and professional activities for Counseling and Prevention Services staff, including weekly staff meetings.
  • Provide supervision to Counseling and Prevention Services trainees as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • An independent clinical license in the State of Utah.
  • Experience working in a university or other higher education setting.
  • Understanding of the unique mental health needs of veterinarians and veterinary students.
  • Generalist knowledge and experience in psychotherapy, including teletherapy.
