Requirements
  • Strong proven experience in strategic business development, sales or account leadership within public sector markets.
  • Demonstrable success winning complex, high-value opportunities with organisations such as the Ministry of Defence, National Health Service, local authorities or housing associations.
  • Strong understanding of public sector governance, procurement and decision-making processes.
  • Experience operating within regulated procurement environments and framework agreements.
  • Experience developing business cases and commercial proposals focused on value for money and whole-life cost outcomes.
  • Understanding of energy, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or decarbonisation solutions.
  • Experience with commercial modelling, investment appraisal and funding mechanisms.
  • Ability to develop long-term customer partnerships.
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate credibly at executive and board level.
  • Strong commercial acumen balanced with an understanding of public sector priorities.
  • Ability to influence across multiple internal functions.
  • Ability to manage and forecast a pipeline in a highly organised, disciplined and data-driven manner.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver growth strategies across Defence, the National Health Service, Local Government, Social Housing and wider Public Sector markets.
  • Build and maintain senior stakeholder relationships across key public sector organisations, procurement bodies and framework providers.
  • Identify, qualify and convert strategic opportunities that support public sector and Net Zero ambitions.
  • Lead complex sales opportunities from origination through to contract award, including business case development, bid leadership and governance approvals.
  • Navigate public sector procurement routes and frameworks, including CCS, National Health Service, Defence and Local Authority frameworks.
  • Apply a strong understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 and public procurement regulations to develop compliant route-to-market strategies.
  • Develop innovative commercial, funding and decarbonisation solutions that deliver value for money, carbon reduction and operational resilience.
  • Provide market insight on public sector policy, procurement trends and competitor activity to inform growth strategy.
  • Represent Centrica at industry events, conferences and stakeholder forums.
  • Maintain robust pipeline management, forecasting and opportunity governance through Salesforce.

Leeds-headquartered mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) services provider G&H has secured two new decarbonisation contracts with Centrica Business Solutions, marking the latest step in a long-standing partnership focused on delivering greener infrastructure. Under the new contracts, G&H will carry out MEP works at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham and Hereford County Hospital in Hereford. Richard Tandy, head of projects at Centrica Business Solutions, said: "Clayton Pc is committed to delivering scalable bespoke energy solutions that allow organisations to reach their sustainability goals, as well as reducing their overall energy costs. "G&H's mechanical and electrical expertise, combined with Centrica Business Solutions' capabilities in large-scale onsite, behind-the-meter energy solutions, will enable these organisations to progress towards a greener, fairer future."
