Requirements
  • At least 15 years of experience in electrical construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supervising 60 or more employees, including supervisors and non-supervisory employees in bargaining and non-bargaining environments.
  • Proficiency in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
  • A Master's degree in Construction Engineering and Management from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ViewPoint project management software, Bluebeam, CONEST estimating software, and general internet browsers.
  • Expert-level time management and organizational skills, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • State electrical licensing.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a business unit with profit-and-loss responsibility aligned with the department business plan.
  • Ensure construction projects are performed safely and effectively while maintaining quality assurance, customer service, and financial performance.
  • Cultivate and secure opportunities for future projects and oversee annual revenue volume of approximately $25 million or more, depending on the market.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while ensuring financial targets and established quality standards are met.
  • Manage the workload, professional development, and client-development skills of project management staff.
  • Promote positive customer relations with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, and reinforce safety, quality, customer service, and profitability standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for client-specific design and the company's scope of work.
  • Investigate industry changes affecting data centers, advanced technology projects, building management systems, energy and power management systems, and other specialty systems, and educate direct reports on those changes.
  • Engage relevant stakeholders when performing or pursuing work in an established region.
  • Initiate, execute, and document quality pre-construction and start-up meetings in accordance with company standards.
  • Manage contracts, claims, and dispute resolutions.
  • Work with the Estimating department to review estimates, RECAPS, and turnover, and estimate and procure electrical projects competitively.
  • Mentor Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Assistant Project Managers on managing their teams.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly team reviews covering schedules, quality, safety, administration, and profitability.
  • Ensure qualified personnel are assigned to projects and make assignments that meet project deliverables and needs.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and document project closeout meetings, and verify project data sheets and client-approved project photographs.
  • Drive division profitability through effective project execution.
  • Develop the organization through continuous improvement, support lessons-learned activities, and implement identified initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to EC Electric's quality, safety, and best-practice standards.
  • Recruit, manage, and develop direct reports.
  • Assign work and make decisions regarding hiring, termination, promotions, and performance appraisals.
  • Review contractual requirements and risks for all projects.
  • Manage the project review process with emphasis on accurate financial forecasting.
  • Ensure construction estimates align with project workflow and the customer's master schedule.
  • Communicate challenges, risks, and successes to the Project Executive, team, and direct reports.
  • Maintain annual business plans with the company and update results quarterly.
Desired Qualifications
  • PMP certification is preferred but not required.
