Minitab announces the acquisition of Effex, expanding design of experiments capabilities with custom DOE, AI-driven modeling, and cloud optimization.
Minitab expands DOE capabilities with acquisition of Effex optimization platform. Minitab, a global leader in data collection, predictive analytics, and process improvement solutions for manufacturers and organizations worldwide, has announced the acquisition of the Effex solution, a cutting-edge design of experiments (DOE) and optimization tool that offers true custom designs. Minitab will now provide superior DOE capabilities that blend classical DOE with proprietary experimental designs, advanced modeling, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based optimization tools. Integrating Effex into the Minitab Solution Center will help organizations enhance processes, improve quality, and achieve operational excellence. The Effex platform is renowned for its proprietary OMARS (Orthogonal Minimally Aliased Response Surface) designs, which combine screening and response surface methodologies. These designs offer better modeling capabilities, increased prediction accuracy, and clearer effect estimation, enabling teams to gain deeper insights with fewer experimental runs. "Adding the Effex solution to our platform positions Minitab as the market leader in design of experiments offerings," said Jeffrey T. Slovin, President and CEO of Minitab. "By integrating this advanced DOE technology into Minitab's trusted end-to-end solutions portfolio, we're helping customers unlock deeper insights, drive smarter optimization, and lead with data to achieve better business outcomes in increasingly complex environments." The Effex solution provides advanced optimal design algorithms, extensive design catalogs, and sophisticated optimization techniques that significantly enhance Minitab's existing DOE offerings. Using artificial intelligence, users can easily compare experimental designs and utilize the recommendation algorithm to select the best models. Minitab is committed to making advanced statistical analysis practical and accessible. By combining Minitab's extensive classical DOE options with modern approaches from Effex, Minitab enables practitioners to solve more problems faster and with fewer constraints. With Effex integrated into the Minitab Solution Center, customers will have a unified environment supporting experimentation, data management, statistical analysis, optimization, and decision-making at scale. Together, Minitab and Effex will accelerate the development of next-generation DOE capabilities while supporting customers across manufacturing and other data-driven industries, including automotive, aerospace, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, electronics, chemicals, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing.
Minitab acquires Scytec to expand real-time manufacturing data collection for operational excellence. Minitab, LLC, a global leader in data management, predictive analytics, and process improvement solutions, announced the acquisition of Scytec, a manufacturing technology company specializing in real-time machine data collection, machine monitoring, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) software. This acquisition enhances Minitab's end-to-end solutions for manufacturers by expanding data collection from the shop floor and enabling deeper operational insights from real-time data gathered directly from manufacturing equipment. With the addition of Scytec's DataXchange software, Minitab extends its capabilities to collect comprehensive, real-time operational data from machines such as CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), robots, welders, and other manufacturing equipment. This enables manufacturers to visualize machine performance, utilization, and downtime data to better understand and improve operations. Minitab is now one of the only organizations that can standardize data collection across manufacturing operations from the factory floor to the quality lab. Minitab will continue to be the partner of choice for organizations around the globe, regardless of maturity, by offering basic data collection capabilities and more advanced solutions, such as statistical process control (SPC) and process digital twins, that drive operational excellence.
Minitab, a global leader in data analytics and process improvement solutions, has acquired Scytec, a manufacturing technology company specialising in real-time machine data collection and overall equipment effectiveness software. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition adds Scytec's DataXchange platform to Minitab's portfolio, enabling real-time data collection from manufacturing equipment including CNC machines, programmable logic controllers and robots. DataXchange offers both cloud and on-premises deployment options for commercial and regulated manufacturers. The deal positions Minitab as one of few organisations capable of standardising data collection across manufacturing operations, from factory floor to quality lab. Scytec's technology will enhance Minitab's existing solutions for statistical process control, Lean Six Sigma and digital twins, supporting manufacturers in monitoring performance, reducing downtime and optimising throughput.
Note: Minitab recently acquired Prolink.
