After weeks of buildup, it felt like only a matter of time before Compass would file a lawsuit against Northwest MLS (NWMLS) over the latter's Clear Cooperation Policy (CCP).
Compass is suing the Northwest MLS in alleged defense of homeowner choice, calling the broker-owned listing portal a "monopolist" with the "most restrictive homeowner marketing rules in the country."
In addition to a private listing service, Compass launched its Compass Coming Soons listings searchable only on Compass.com that "protect home sellers" from listing days on market and price drops.
Patty LaRocco, a veteran New York City real estate broker, has joined Compass after departing Douglas Elliman, where she was one of the firm's top-performing agents in new development and residential sales.
Compass, for instance, launched its Compass One client portal and dashboard in February, which connects clients and agents during every phase of the transaction, including before and after, and allows clients access to the brokerage's high-tech tools and services.
