Position Specific Description
The Engineering Associate position at the City of Tucson’s Water Department reviews, and edits water construction plans for developer financed projects for commercial, residential, and industrial site development. This position is assigned various projects and works with them from inception to completion.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Civil Engineer. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews water construction design plans for industrial, commercial, and residential developer financed projects in accordance with department, city, regional, state and federal codes and regulations.
Prepares and reviews comments and letters in compliance with the regulations and accepted engineering practices for developer-financed projects. Maintains regular communication with all stakeholders regarding projects. Coordinates with all parties to ensure projects adhere to approved plans.
Reviews legal descriptions and easements in coordination with the City of Tucson’s Real Estate department to construct and maintain utility infrastructure.
Creates and maintains professional and interpersonal relationships and workflow management with internal and external stakeholders such as co-workers, outside agencies, consultants, developers, contractors, and public officials.
Tracks assigned projects to record and report status.
Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate degree.
Experience
Two (2) years of directly related experience.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Certifications
Valid and unrestricted Class D Driver License
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in land surveying and construction (specifically underground utilities).
• Experience with computer software, GIS, legal descriptions and easements.
• Experience with the design, review and construction of civil engineering plans.
• Completed coursework in surveying and construction methods/technology.
