Responsibilities
  • Bring a culture of creativity to every design challenge and own each solution or improvement through completion.
  • Own the mechanical design of turbopump components and assemblies from concept through hot-fire testing and flight, including computer-aided design models, design definitions, tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, material and process specifications, analysis cycles, and component requirements.
  • Integrate constraints from hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, structures, secondary flow, and thermals into a coherent design.
  • Control configuration and record pedigree for components across build, test, and refurbishment cycles.
  • Drive hardware through manufacturing and assembly, including fabrication, first-article review, and nonconformance disposition.
  • Build the verification plan for the hardware, determine what is proven by analysis or stand testing, and close both activities.
  • Ensure test readiness, author instrumentation requests, provide real-time support, and perform data reduction for component and engine tests.
  • Troubleshoot hardware anomalies, conduct root-cause investigations through closure, and incorporate corrective actions into the design.

  • Experience leading root-cause investigations on owned hardware and carrying corrective actions through closure.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic hardware design and cryogenic material behavior.
  • Experience with multiple manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing, forgings, and castings.
  • Experience at a fast-moving, hardware-focused startup or early-stage program.
  • A track record of quickly addressing unfamiliar problems and closing them with minimal direction.
