Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Three to seven years of experience in chemical processing, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, materials processing, or related industrial operations is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including mass balance, reaction kinetics, fluid handling, mixing, heat transfer, process control, and scale-up.
  • Experience improving yield, reducing process variation, troubleshooting production issues, or supporting manufacturing scale-up.
  • Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and develop practical process improvements.
  • Experience developing or improving operating procedures, work instructions, batch records, or controlled process documentation.
  • A hands-on approach and comfort working in manufacturing, laboratory, and controlled environments.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations for compliance with U.S. Government export regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day chemical manufacturing operations through process monitoring, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
  • Develop and improve process parameters, operating windows, and production methods to support repeatable output.
  • Identify sources of yield loss, variability, rework, or process inefficiency and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with operations and technical teams to improve process stability, throughput, and product consistency.
  • Support scale-up of chemical processes from development or pilot activity into routine production.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, defects, and opportunities for yield improvement.
  • Lead or support improvement efforts focused on reducing scrap, rework, process downtime, and material loss.
  • Develop metrics for monitoring process health, yield, throughput, and operating performance.
  • Use data analysis and engineering judgment to recommend process changes and verify their effectiveness.
  • Support root-cause investigations related to process deviations, off-specification material, or production interruptions.
  • Provide technical support to operators, technicians, and supervisors during production activities.
  • Support development and revision of work instructions, operating procedures, batch records, and process documentation.
  • Assist with equipment setup, process readiness, commissioning, and troubleshooting for chemical processing operations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, facilities, and instrumentation and controls teams on equipment issues affecting process performance.
  • Ensure production activities are planned, documented, and executed according to approved procedures.
  • Work with quality and characterization teams to connect process conditions with product attributes and acceptance criteria.
  • Support collection, organization, and interpretation of process and characterization data.
  • Help define sampling, inspection, and data-review needs that support manufacturing decisions.
  • Ensure process improvements are supported by appropriate data, documentation, and technical rationale.
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement related to product consistency and quality performance.
  • Perform chemical processing work in accordance with site safety, radiological control, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Support hazard reviews, job planning, and procedure development for chemical processing operations.
  • Partner with environmental, health, and safety and radiological controls teams to establish appropriate controls for chemical and radiological work.
  • Promote disciplined work practices, contamination-control awareness, and procedural compliance.
  • Support audit readiness, training, and documentation for regulated manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with operations, fuel development, quality, characterization, environmental health and safety, radiological controls, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams.
  • Communicate technical issues, process risks, and improvement opportunities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support production ramp-up by converting technical process knowledge into scalable manufacturing practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with sol-gel processing, precipitation, gelation, slurry processing, particle formation, ceramics, powders, or advanced materials manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with regulated manufacturing, quality systems, safety reviews, and disciplined work control.
  • Experience in nuclear, chemical processing, ceramics, energy, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing environments.

Standard Nuclear has appointed Seth Cohen to its board of directors, effective 12 August 2026. Cohen previously served as Chief Counsel for Nuclear Policy at the US Department of Energy, where he oversaw nuclear legal and policy work and coordinated with the White House, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and NASA on advanced nuclear and space power systems. Before joining government, Cohen practised at Kirkland & Ellis in San Francisco, handling Supreme Court and appellate litigation. Standard Nuclear completes construction of two TRISO fuel facilities adding 5 MTU annual capacity

Standard Nuclear has completed construction of two new TRISO nuclear fuel production facilities in Tennessee and Idaho. The facilities, designated SN-TN and SN-ID, are expected to collectively add up to 5 metric tons of uranium per year of production capacity once fully scaled, with initial capacity of 1 MTU annually each. The company has received approval of Preliminary Documented Safety Analyses for both facilities from the US Department of Energy. Start-up, commissioning, and licensing activities are expected to advance over the summer. Standard Nuclear currently operates its SN-0 facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which produces up to 0.5 MTU annually. The company is also building another fuel line through a joint venture with Framatome in Washington state. "This comprehensive milestone represents the core of our mission at Standard Nuclear: focused execution to scale quickly to meet the increasing customer demand for advanced nuclear fuel," said Kurt Terrani, chief executive officer.

Standard Nuclear targets $3.5B valuation in IPO as AI power demand fuels nuclear boom

Standard Nuclear, a Tennessee-based manufacturer of advanced nuclear fuel, is targeting a valuation of up to $3.5 billion through its upcoming IPO. The company plans to offer 18.25 million Class A shares priced between $18 and $21 each. This represents a significant jump from the $838 million valuation in its January funding round. Standard Nuclear produces TRISO fuel, a highly robust micro-particle nuclear fuel designed for small modular reactors that could power AI data centres. The company reported a net loss of $7.7 million on revenue of $593,802 for Q1 2025, compared to an $8.3 million loss on $377,926 in revenue the previous year. Despite losses, revenue grew 57% year-over-year. Standard Nuclear reports a contract backlog of up to $245 million and estimates the cumulative TRISO fuel market opportunity at over $4 billion through 2030.
