  • Capability across brand stewardship, positioning, product and customer marketing, relationship marketing, corporate communications, public relations, content and digital marketing, event strategy, and executive communications.
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems, long customer-development cycles, and multi-stakeholder buying environments, and convert them into precise, compelling narratives and engagement strategies.
  • Strong organizational leadership, including planning, prioritization, budget and resource management, operating cadence, performance measurement, delegation, coaching, and accountability.
  • Executive presence and judgment, with strong written and verbal communication skills and experience advising senior leaders and engaging investors, customers, partners, and media.
  • Willingness to work in person at the Playa Vista headquarters five days per week.
  • U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent resident status, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. authorizations.

  • Steward and activate the company’s brand, positioning, messaging, and visual standards.
  • Build a relationship-marketing strategy across priority customers, partners, influencers, and stakeholders.
  • Lead customer and product marketing across commercial, civil, and national security offerings.
  • Own integrated communications and news cycles covering announcements, media engagement, executive communications, thought leadership, digital and social channels, and content.
  • Define and lead the annual event cycle across conferences, customer engagements, demonstrations, product launches, recruiting events, and other external moments.
  • Translate complex technical products, programs, and mission concepts into clear narratives for technical, commercial, civil, government, investor, and public audiences.
  • Build the marketing operating system, including roadmaps, calendars, decision rights, workflows, briefs, reviews, measurement, and accountability.
  • Build, organize, and lead a high-performing marketing team; establish roles and decision authority; delegate; provide mentorship, feedback, and accountability; and manage agencies, vendors, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Serve as an executive partner on company positioning, strategic relationships, business development, fundraising, recruiting, reputation management, and corporate milestones.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience marketing across multiple customer types, including commercial enterprises, civil space agencies, U.S. government or defense organizations, or regulated industrial markets.
  • Experience supporting complex, relationship-driven business development, strategic partnerships, or long customer acquisition cycles.
  • Experience orchestrating major events, announcement programs, media cycles, executive thought leadership, fundraising, or investor communications.
  • Established relationships with aerospace, technology, business, and relevant trade media, and experience creating a category around a technically complex physical product or platform.

Outpost builds and sells a low-mass, two-stage re-entry system for satellites that enables return to Earth and reuse. The system is fully deployable and compatible with any current launch provider, handling up to 125 kg of payload. It reduces space debris by allowing satellites to be recovered rather than discarded, and it can be used with multiple operators and space agencies through sales and service contracts. Outpost differentiates itself by emphasizing sustainability, launcher-agnostic compatibility, and a service-oriented model rather than just hardware. The goal is to make space operations more efficient and less wasteful, supporting cost-effective, scalable access to space for a growing set of customers.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • NASA selected Outpost for Cargo Ferry Phase 1, extending government validation into 2025.
  • AFWERX awarded $33.2 million in 2024, funding four Ferryall missions and Carryall development.
  • 2025 SPACEWERX and Rocket Cargo contracts deepen defense demand for reusable return vehicles.

What critics are saying

  • Outpost still lacks an orbital return mission; first Ferryall launch targeted early 2026.
  • Government contracts dominate revenue; any NASA or Air Force pivot could starve runway quickly.
  • SpaceX, Rocket Lab, and capsule rivals can outspend Outpost before commercial demand arrives.

What makes Outpost unique

  • Outpost pairs NASA HIAD heritage with autonomous paraglider precision landing.
  • Its Ferryall and Carryall platforms target any launch provider, from ISS cargo to hypersonic returns.
  • The Air Force backed multi-ton Earth-return systems, validating dual-use logistics and reentry credibility.
