Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years’ work experience with 5-6+ years of legal or regulatory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant technological systems employed by MFS.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees and outside parties at all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and time management skills are required.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Support and eventually take responsibility for the filing of MFS’s Form ADV.
  • Handle projects and other regulatory filings related to MFS’s investment advisory and retail distribution business.
  • Review MFS welfare plan and retirement plan documents and work with counsel to amend plan documents, as needed.
  • Create plan-related documents, such as the Summary Plan Descriptions for MFS retirement plans and revise as needed.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on matters related to the MFS retirement plans and welfare plan, including with respect to ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Participate on a cross-functional team and handle additional responsibilities on matters that support attorneys who handle employment, investment advisory and retail distribution-related topics (with training).
  • May oversee the work of more junior paralegals.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
