Role Description
The Workforce Production Planner will play a critical role in ensuring that our production plans are effectively translated into staffing and recruiting needs. This position is a critical member of the Production Planning team and will be responsible for analyzing production schedules, forecasting labor requirements, and collaborating with Production Management, HR, Recruiting, and Training teams to ensure the timely availability of qualified staff. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of production processes, and the ability to anticipate and respond to changing workforce demands.
This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. Relocation assistance is available.
What you’ll do:
Analyze production plans and schedules to determine staffing requirements for various shifts and departments within the factory.
Develop and maintain workforce forecasts based on production goals, seasonal variations, turnover, temporary changes in worker availability due to a leave of absence, and other relevant factors.
Collaborate with HR and recruiting teams to create and implement staffing strategies that align with production needs.
Engages with contingent and temporary workforce partners to supplement staffing needs.
Oversees the management of the temporary staffing agencies relative to performance and leads the order request process to staff temporary workers against plan.
Monitor workforce metrics and KPIs to assess staffing levels, productivity, and efficiency.
Identify potential workforce shortages or surpluses and recommend appropriate actions to address these issues.
Monitor spend on labor including cost per production hour, over time, contingent/temporary staffing, cost of leaves, etc.
Monitors adherence to data integrity and inputs for workforce spend in key tools such as Oracle HCM and ADP in partnership with HR and Finance.
Supports reporting requirements on grant administration and cost reimbursement programs in partnership with Finance.
Coordinate with department managers to understand specific staffing needs and ensure optimal allocation of resources.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of workforce planning activities and staffing levels.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workforce planning processes and overall factory performance.
Prepare regular reports and presentations on workforce planning metrics and trends for senior management.
What you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in workforce planning, preferably within a manufacturing or production environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in workforce planning tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
