Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • A license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • An American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certificate.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required for some specific clinical units.
  • All staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Care Team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care.
  • Assess patient needs, create care plans, and assign appropriate team responsibilities.
  • Participate in team meetings and care coordination activities.
  • Build respectful, professional relationships with colleagues.
  • Communicate clearly with team members about patient status and needs.
  • Support team members in complex or challenging situations.
  • Escalate concerns to the Nurse Coordinator when appropriate.
  • Contribute to education and training for team members.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and support improvement initiatives.
  • Accurately evaluate and document patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provide and document evidence-based nursing care using the nursing process.
  • Deliver care in alignment with hospital, unit, and clinical standards.
  • Administer medications safely and in accordance with all guidelines.
  • Provide timely education based on each patient’s care plan and expected hospital stay.
  • Include family members and caregivers when appropriate.
  • Support the development of educational materials and resources.
  • Document education provided and patient understanding.
  • Ensure patients and caregivers are informed about discharge plans and available community resources.
  • Collaborate with the Care Team to plan care aligned with anticipated length of stay.
  • Work with Nurse Coordinators, case managers, providers, and other departments to support timely care and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate completion of tests, procedures, and consultations.
  • Share clinical updates with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Monitor length of stay and support efficient patient progression.
  • Begin discharge planning at admission and include family members throughout the process.
  • Ensure all patients receive clear, written discharge instructions prior to leaving.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
