Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 7 years of relevant accounting experience, including leadership experience and the ability to manage staff and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, International Financial Reporting Standards, Securities and Exchange Commission requirements, and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requirements.
  • Ability to resolve complex accounting and disclosure issues and interact effectively with senior management.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the month-end closing process, including journal entries and variance analysis.
  • Oversee preparation of supporting documentation for Securities and Exchange Commission and regulatory filings.
  • Provide guidance to direct reports researching and resolving accounting issues, and lead resolution of complex accounting and disclosure issues.
  • Evaluate and facilitate the resolution of accounting issues and communicate issues to directors, the controller, legal, and other interested parties.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with business partners, including Human Resources and Treasury, to ensure timely transaction capture and issue resolution.
  • Identify and implement department-level process improvements and manage initiatives that improve efficiency.
  • Manage process improvement projects to reduce risk and create efficiencies.
  • Ensure information technology systems effectively support accounting transactions, train appropriate team members, and manage system issues with Information Technology.
  • Lead and manage a team of direct reports.
  • Set department goals and establish an environment that supports achieving those goals.
  • Set goals and development plans, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback to direct reports.
  • Provide accounting guidance and coaching on journal entries, reconciliations, disclosures, documentation, and information technology systems.
  • Support implementation of new enterprise resource planning systems and improve financial close efficiency and timeliness.
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley-compliant Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and other financial statements and regulatory filings.
  • Lead and develop teams, coach employees, and provide thought leadership to Corporate Accounting.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant credential.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior management.
