Requirements
  • At least 6 months of nursing experience.
  • A current state nursing license is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology is required.
  • The ability to administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections is required.
  • The ability to manually take patient vital signs is required.
  • The role requires sufficient physical capacity for prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, full-range body motion, and handling or lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard at 50 words per minute, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax.
  • The ability to operate a motor vehicle to travel between clinics is required.
Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, past and present medical history, and current medication lists.
  • Communicate allergy testing and treatment protocols to patients.
  • Administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate spirometry testing.
  • Perform testing and treatment according to clinic protocols and safety measures.
  • Navigate the electronic health record system to record accurate patient health information.
  • Greet, welcome, and direct patients and visitors appropriately.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing phone calls and provide accurate information.
  • Track clinical inventory and request resupply when needed.
  • Complete end-of-day reports and logs accurately.
  • Follow HIPAA confidentiality rules for patient information.
  • Follow OSHA requirements, including universal precautions and sharps disposal guidelines.
  • Assist with IOP at the Colorado Springs and Centennial clinics once monthly.
  • Order pre- and post-IOP medications as necessary.
  • Assist with training and ongoing mentoring of new clinical hires.
  • Cross-train in front- and back-office duties to provide full-cycle clinic support.
  • Become proficient in the practice-management functions of the electronic health record.
  • Obtain computed tomography authorizations.
  • Scan patient documents and medical records and attach them to charts.
  • Check patients in, including obtaining demographic, primary care provider, contact, and insurance information.
  • Check patients out and take payments.
  • Communicate a patient's out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Send end-of-day emails to appropriate parties.
  • Schedule patient appointments.
  • Enroll patients in their treatment of choice.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of front-office experience.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively to exchange information.
  • The ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • The ability to react calmly and effectively in difficult or emergent situations.
