Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • At least 6 years of experience working on complex electrical systems or electronics design, focused on compute modules or high-performance embedded systems, is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience launching new products in a mass-production setting, specifically involving complex electronic modules, is required.
  • Strong fundamentals in electrical and embedded systems engineering are required.
  • Experience applying Design for Manufacturing principles in automotive or other high-volume industries is required.
  • A strong foundation in software systems design for networking and embedded areas, covering the complete Software Development Life Cycle, is required.
  • Proven debugging and diagnostic skills across electrical, mechanical, and software domains are required.
  • Experience managing requirements using industry-standard software platforms is required.
  • Teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, integration, and functional testing of the Compute system.
  • Develop the Compute system with Controls, Security, Hardware, UX, and other cross-functional teams to meet objectives, budget, and program timelines.
  • Lead the industrialization of Compute modules from design through high-volume manufacturing, ensuring robust and scalable production processes.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between Product Development, Quality, and Purchasing throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for electrical issues within the Compute cluster and resolve critical concerns affecting vehicle development.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturing strategies to optimize manufacturability, reduce costs, and improve product quality for high-volume production.
  • Partner with the software team to develop and tune the performance of components within the Compute system.
  • Support vehicle assembly lines during development, validate system-level changes, and resolve issues to enable on-time delivery and production ramp-up.
  • Develop and implement quality-control measures and testing protocols for Compute modules.
  • Coordinate vehicle-level testing and debugging with systems test teams, including data analysis and cross-functional reviews.
  • Perform trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specifications focused on manufacturability.
  • Report feature development progress and maturity at key program milestones.
  • Create release artifacts, diagrams, and documentation for cross-functional teams.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience building and launching automotive products and vehicle prototypes.
  • Experience developing hardware from concept through production launch in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment.
  • Familiarity with managing Electrical Distribution System complexity.
  • A systems-based approach to design and development focused on execution and continuous improvement.
