Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required, along with a proven record of consistent sales and goal achievement performance.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be able to build and implement sales solutions.
  • The candidate must be able to establish, cultivate, and maintain effective working relationships with customers, prospective customers, internal business partners, colleagues, and management, with detailed territory management and organizational skills.
  • Strong proficiency in business technologies, including personal computers, mobile phones with email, multiple applications, customer relationship management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, is required.
  • The candidate must be able to transport materials to customer locations, lift 50 pounds unaided, and move up to 100 pounds with mechanical assistance.
Responsibilities
  • Travel throughout the Virginia territory to visit current and prospective customers.
  • Conduct in-person sales consultations with faculty, curriculum directors, and administrators in the K-12 market.
  • Develop and implement plans to achieve goals.
  • Engage in sales call activities with school districts to explore and present textbook and digital product solutions.
  • Meet or exceed annual sales goals.
  • Drive new business and develop growth within the territory.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and record sales activity using company sales tools.
  • Participate, when appropriate, in network-building opportunities within the territory, including conferences, group presentations, and industry functions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of teaching, sales, or publishing experience is preferred.
  • Sales experience with, or a proven understanding of, digital information delivery is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is preferred.

Cengage integrates AI across 800+ higher education products to strengthen career-ready learning

Cengage has announced new AI capabilities across its higher education learning platforms, including Student Assistant, Instructor Assistant, and enhanced features within MindTap. The integrated tools aim to develop critical thinking and communication skills alongside AI literacy. Student Assistant provides contextual coaching based on Cengage content rather than generating answers. Students who struggle early in courses and use the tool are 90% more likely to continue submitting assignments through the term. Instructor Assistant gives faculty insights into student difficulties, enabling earlier intervention. MindTap offers AI-enabled scenarios and video-based assignments for real-world skills practice. This autumn, Student Assistant and Instructor Assistant will be available across more than 800 higher education products. According to Cengage's 2026 research, 58% of instructors believe today's graduates are less prepared for work than students a decade ago.

The collection includes early books, serials, newspapers and ephemera printed before 1801 from Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australia. Built on the British Library's English Short Title Catalog, ECCO III features high-quality, full-colour imaging of rare materials including broadsides, maps and miniature books. Advanced scanning technology enables researchers to examine fine details, including centuries-old handwritten margin notes.
