Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in technical, analytical, communication, and organizational activities supporting technology programs, projects, or operations.
  • Experience planning, leading, and implementing technology initiatives and managing technology portfolios.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative working relationships and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to manage technology procurement activities and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to supervise and support student employees.
  • Commitment to maintaining accurate documentation, policies, procedures, and training materials.
Responsibilities
  • Lead technology planning, refresh programs, and deployment initiatives that support library staff, public computing environments, AV-enabled spaces, and specialized library technologies.
  • Partner with Duke University Libraries leadership and stakeholders to identify technology needs, evaluate solutions, and implement services that improve operational effectiveness and user experiences.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Duke University Libraries and the Office of Information Technology, coordinating technology projects, security initiatives, policy implementation, and support efforts.
  • Manage technology budgets, reserve funds, vendor relationships, software licensing, service contracts, and procurement activities.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts, depreciation schedules, expenditure reports, and multi-year budget plans that support strategic technology investments.
  • Lead and support library-wide technology and renovation projects, ensuring project milestones, budgets, documentation, and stakeholder communications are effectively managed.
  • Design and deliver training, workshops, documentation, and communications that help staff effectively utilize technology resources and stay informed about evolving technologies and security practices.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflows, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology solutions that support library operations and services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Technology planning experience, preferably within higher education, academic libraries, or similar environments.
  • Experience with technology lifecycle planning, workstation refresh programs, and audiovisual technology initiatives.
  • Experience with technology inventory management systems and asset tracking.
  • Demonstrated success leading technology-related projects and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience developing and maintaining spreadsheets, analyzing data, and preparing operational reports.
  • Experience with SAP R3 or similar enterprise financial systems.
  • Experience with budget forecasting, reserve fund management, depreciation schedules, and financial reporting.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, negotiating vendor agreements, and managing technology procurement.
